This is going to be a bad A** anime. A style similer to samurai champloo (but is not)and if you remember the comic book MAX ( the purple clawed guy) it gives a cold feeling that brings back memory's. Dont you think.

The voice-over well be done by samual L. Jackson. Yes you read correctly.

look at everything. story, gallery, characters.

Slated to begin in 2006, with U.S. release in 2007. The animated version of Afrosamurai is scheduled to air in the U.S. next year before being reverse imported to Japan where it will air with Japanese subtitles. What do you guys think?

i thought i heard something about SPIKETV having the rights to air this anime. I think i remember hearing something like that somewhere. It was a while back so my bad if its not true. Anyway yeah it looks cool but not everything that looks like it might be entertaining is. Hey, finally a black samurai anime. Does anyone know if its a first? Speaking of black, Boondocks better be funny. Whats next though is it gonna be a magical girl series with ¨Afro-American¨ lead characters?

Well... I have to say it looks pretty good, I for one can't wait for it to come out. And also I think it's cool that Samual L. Jackson will be doing the voice-over.

If it has Sammy J involved, then it should be automatically put up for all kinds of awards. Including most bad ass voice actor award.

They're also making a video game and a live action version featuring Samuel L. Jackson. It's supposed to premiere in 2007.

omg samy jackson! but really do you think he is the right voice of a samurai? i dont think his voice matches his character at all. and a african american samurai? come on its just a hook to get the viewers! there were no blacks allowed in japan in the edo period PERIOD! and we dont need another samurai with an afro, we have mugen! i wish they didn't have to resort to such tactics, maybe they are making up for short comings (hopefully the storyline will be interesting!).

but all in all i will look forward to this since it will expose much more poeple to anime and help the industry and hopfully will see a surge in audience which will result in a drop in PRICES! Very Happy

and i do hope this thing turns out the be the shiz!

Sure is a samurai anime craze going on lately, and to think Samual L. Jackson will do voice dubbing for an anime! Hope I don't forget to watch this when it finally airs.

From that site (click on "story"):

Somebody who couldn't write, probably a marketing drone, wrote:
In a world that is part ancient 'Edo period' Japan and part futuristic science-fiction fantasy, a dark hero knows only the bitter taste of blood and the sound of his own footsteps moving towards his unknown fate.

Man alive, that's ponderous plodding painful-to-read prose... "a dark hero knows only the bitter taste of blood"? Sheesh.

Well Samurai Jack was voiced by a black actor, Phil LaMarr, does that count? Laughing

This is old news posted way back in May

Yes, just because he's black doesn't mean he can't voice characters. How about watching it first instead of going OMG, Will Smith playing a ninja.

iheartanime wrote:

Uh, something different. If there was a movie call American Ninja or cartoon call Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, nobody would flip out becuase they arn't japanese.

iheartanime wrote:

No duh, so was Midori's Day, Samurai Champloo and every other anime out there with a hook to lure viewers. It's nothing new.

iheartanime wrote:

Black weren't allow in Japan during Edo? There weren't even any african american even in Japan at that time. It's a work of fiction, not a historical accurate anime.Just like SAmurai 7 (also done by GONZO) being a work of fiction with Mechs and stuff during the fuedal period, I don't see why Afro Samurai can't, if as long as the series is entertaining.

iheartanime wrote:

What tactics are you talking about? Making afro samurai, a samurai anime with a african american hero? Are you supremacist? This is like the same complaint before Samurai Champloo was release and everyone hated it because it has Hip Hop and didn't give it a chance until they actually watch it. Almost all anime/manga will have a gimmick to make it entertaining.

So my question is: why is it okay that in Midori's day, they use a weird gimmick like having a girl attach to a boy's hand, and many people consider that unique and original, but when someone decide to make a samurai anime with a black hero figure with Sam L Jackson, people go OMG and have a problem with it because he isn't Japanese (so it isn't anime?) and it sound gimmicky.

Hopefully Takashi Okazaki and GONZO animation will strike down all these doubter by making an awesome anime.
