Shoji Matsumoto and Katsuji Matsumoto are the same animator. Shoji is an invalid reading of 勝次; Katsuji is the correct reading.

It is possible for people to use rare/nonstandard readings (this site lists it as a possibility for example). Is there any source that confirms this?

A google search has brought up pages about the animator that use both
