Well i saw a topic that the box set is coming out soon and I have never seen the series but I really liked the trailer and I´m wondering if anyone would recommend it? I´ve seen Rurouni Kenshin (except the tales of the meiji arc) and I have to admit i liked it and I heard a lot of people comparing these two. Well my question is.... is the actual story as good as the trailer makes it or is it just made to seem better than it is? And is there a lot of sword fighting? I love sword fighting animes although most seem to disappoint. Are there any other anime involving sword fighting you´d recommend?

Personally, I like Peacemaker, the only real problem with the series , in my opinion, is the pacing. Other than that the series does have a good story and great characters. Though I'd suggest you watch it first, if possible, before throwing down the $90 for the boxset

The series is called Peacemaker Kurogane, although ADV scrapped "Kurogane" from the title (it is intact in the manga title). The series is more character-focused and does not have as much action as Kenshin, but it is still a great series, with many of the same characters (Hajime Saito and the Shinsengumi were all real people).

Peacemaker Kurogane is the full name of the anime. It's really not that hard to say unless you're absolutley clueless in Japanese pronunciations, and I don't know why ADV left it out. But I guess a lot of American buyers would ask "what the heck's a 'Kerr-oh Gain?"

Peacemaker is the name of the manga series that precedes PMK. So unless you actually know the difference of the timelines and all, it's sort of another misleading name change by ADV, though still not as bad as "Samurai X."...

Anyway, I've seen 4 or 5 volumes of PMK, and it's been decent at best so far.

For a period of Japanese history that's supposed to be so violent and full of bloodshed from the revolution (a la Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen), the series is very lackluster in the action and drama department.

The series thus far has focused on the (very slow and plodding) character development of a kid named Tetsunosuke, who is looking to join the Shinsengumi and eventually seek revenge on the "demon" that killed his parents.

He is taken care of by his older brother, Tatsunosuke, who is a very sporadic and purposely dorky character, which I find funny at times, but more so annoying in most of his scenes.

Well the two of them obviously join the Shinsengumi, but if you're expecting a great combination of shounen style action and character development (a la Kenshin the TV series), then you'll be dissappointed.

The first volume got me very anxious (especially the end of episode 1), the second volume stunk, and the rest I've seen were mediocre at best.

I don't know if any prior knowledge of the original Peacemaker manga is required to understand whatever nuances lie in the story or whatever, but I can definitley say this isn't even close to Kenshin, aside from the presence of the Shinsengumi.

Even though the story and characters aren't all that similar, I can say that if you're looking for an equally bad dub to Kenshin, you'll get the same thing with PMK, but in 5.1 Dolby Digital.

I'd suggest you rent it first.
