The US relase already has an English dub on it. Make sure you're not looking at a bootleg.

Yeah, mine already defaulted to English Audio when I played it. Make sure you check out the "Setup" section on Disc 1 and choose English 5.1 for the Audio.

On a semi-related note, has anyone had problems with the audio dropping out a little during certain scenes? What I mean is that when I played it the audio would get quiet whenever there was a robotic/metallic sound or weapon/explosion sound.

Also, the music soundtrack would drop out alot during conversations or battle sequences. That was disappointing, because the movie was advertised as much for its music as its animation. I couldn't really enjoy the music with it dropping out all the time.

Did you check both languages? Sometimes it might just be one track that's doing it. I've noticed a few dubs to sound a little softer sometimes (and vice versa), though I don't think Geneon has had much of a problem with that lately.

I had a LOT of problems with the audio when I watched it, too, although I couldn't tell if the problem was in the audio mix or my bf's crappy speakers. We tried both the Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and the Japanese DTS 5.1 mix and the former sounded better out of the two (didn't try the English). The dialogue was the biggest problem. It sounded tinny, almost as if a high-pass had been run on it. And at the same time, the bgm had super heavy bass. meh. I was just happy that the film was much, much better than what I expected, so it didn't bother me that much.

The discs are bilingual, yes. As for my copy it works just fine and sounds amazing on my surround sound system.

Yeah,mine did that too.
When they were fighting it would be loud, but when they zoomed in on a gun or something i expected it to be really loud, but it got quiteter than before.Could it be that one is Special Edition and the other isnt? The one i watched was the origional, does it do that in the special edition too?

It is on the Limited Edition, because I've heard it on the 5.1 system here as well.

For some unknown reason, at those times it's like one of the channels seems to lose decibles for a few seconds, as if the channel just wasn't normalized with the other channels. Neutral

Some tvs have limiters built into them and the reaction you talk about sounds like one. They drop the audio levels for a couple of seconds when there is a sudden jump in volume, in turn the next couple of seconds the audio gets wimpy till it comes back up automatically.

Sounds like a decent theory, except that I played the DVD on my computer which has Dolby Surround Sound speakers.

Does anyone know the complete English cast for the Appleseed Dub?

According to imdb.com; Amanda Winn Lee and Jamieson Price are in it.

I believe some of the problem (I listened to the DTS track on my Pioneer in thanks mode) was that the center channel was mixed a bit low. Whenever dialogue would pan to the left or right speaker the volume would rise. This is mainly noticable while the Elders are talking since there is lots of horizontal panning in those scenes. I will agree that the bass output on most of the modern music was a bit high. One other thing of note is that most of the guns were mixed fairly low for my taste. Then again I've been watching Gungrave recently which really overkills on the gun effects.

Depends on which release.

I think there's like 3-4 diff. versions.

For example, the full screen version that NetFlix has does NOT have English dub.

From what I've been able to tell, the widescreen version and possibly the limited edition have english dubs.

NF may say there is no English dub, but that's not true. Also they say their version is full screen when every version released is anamorphic widescreen.

I guess I'll rent it and see. If they're wrong, I'll email them to change the information.

Thanks!
