Funimation just sent over a grocery list of discontinued items, all former Geneon licenses. The following have been discontinued as of December 10th and are now limited to stock on hand:

Black Lagoon Season 1 & 2 Complete DVD Boxed Set GN-08318
Ergo Proxy Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Re-Release) GN-08662
Gungrave Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Thin-Pak) GN-08653
Hellsing Ultimate (All regular and LE volumes)
Kamichu Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Thin-Pak) GN-08441
Karin (Chibi Vampire) Complete DVD Boxed Set GN-08741
Kyo Kara Maoh Season 1 Complete DVD Boxed Set (Eps #1-39) GN-08665
Kyo Kara Maoh!, Season 2, Complete DVD Boxed Set (Eps #40-78) GN-08664
Law of Ueki Complete Series Collection DVD Boxed Set (Eps #1-51) GN-08301
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha DVD Boxed Set (Eps #1-13) GN-08697
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A DVD Boxed Set (Thin-Pak) (Eps #1-13) GN-08557
Paradise Kiss Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set GN-08692
Rozen Maiden + Traumend Season 1 & 2 Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set GN-08744
Shana (Shakugan no Shana) Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Thin-Pak) FN-08355
Tales of Phantasia DVD GN-08551
The Familiar of Zero DVD Boxed Set (Eps #1-13) (S.A.V.E. Edition) GN-08695
Story of Saiunkoku Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Thin-Pak) GN-08693
When They Cry: Higurashi, Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set GN-08743

Some of these will probably be brought back later under Funi's new 'Classics' label, but will likely end up being sold out and unavailable for an extended period of time between when these sell out and any are re-issued.

I'm not as optimistic as Rob. Of those shows, only Gungrave's latest release is actually listed as a Funimation license, everything else still has Geneon's name on it, so these could be OOP for good if Geneon's original license has expired. I suppose I should speed my schedule up and see if I can squeeze in the Hellsing Ultimate Steelbooks and When They Cry soon. Although, those singles for WTC could finally hit the bargain bin, but I hear there are defective discs somewhere around there and then there's that pink box (puke). I'm also pretty curious about Karin. Oh decisions, decisions.

Here's hoping the they've discontinued the old Hellsing OVA releases because they're getting close to putting out their own release including some of the new episodes.

That's what I've heard over the years. I remember when the first box set came out people were wondering if Funimation used the fixed discs or the glitchy ones.

Discontinued doesn't mean there are no copies to buy at all, it just means "buy now because later is too late."

Or were you being sarcastic? My sarcasm radar is on the fritz right now. (Finals are draining my brain.)

All of these releases have been out for a while, if people want to buy them, maybe they should get off their gluts and do it already.

Well, I'll just have to tell my brother to pick up Shana sooner than later. Especially since he really wants that series (he's been bugging me about it for awhile).

I'm a little curious about the sudden discontinuation of these titles though.

Actually...I was being sarcastic.

Then I realized my own sarcasm bit me on the ass, and now I see the irony: TRSI, no Shana around. Amazon, only from sellers, and thus, inflated.

So yeah...looks like...I did lose my chance... Again again.

Arghhh. Now I have to buy Kamichu. I really doubt that will resurface in the Classics line. I'm really going to have to trim my other expenses now... =\

Forgive my language, but aw f*ck.

I was holding off on Black Lagoon, Gungrave, Saiunkoku, and Shana.

Screw me sideways, frontways, backways, upways, downways, Merry-Go-Roundways, and all different other kinds of ways.

These aren't all impossible to find at the moment though, it states limited to those on hand, and there is always some second hand markets as well, you should be able to find most of these now for sure, and probably for a bit into the future, but if some of these are on your wish list, don't wait too long to pick them up.

I myself still need Kyo Kara Maoh season 2 and I really want Black Lagoon yet.
I had started the Story of Saiunkoku but wasn't able to rent all of it, so had contemplated getting it at some point to finish watching it, but it wasn't as important. I hate not finishing shows though.

Craaaappp, all of those are titles that are on my to-watch list but what's the point of watching them if they go OOP (plus Netflix doesn't have all of them for watching)? Guess that explains why TRSI is having a genon sale right now, guess it's a good thing that I didn't get anything from the 12 days of Christmas sale...

OK that is pretty odd...

BTW guess what is on sale on Right Stuf NOW...Geneon stuff.

No mention of Samurai Champloo I notice...

Also what about the future volumes of Hellsing Ultimate, are those still being done?

I guess I will have to grab some of that stuff before it is too late (or they jack up the prices to the "classic" prices of $50+ MSRP).

Dude, you have had YEARS to buy it! Geneon started releasing this as singles in, what...2006??? You have no excuse whatsoever so cut the woe is me crap. What I've got from reading your posts on this forum is that you are a rock bottom bargain shopper that would NEVER pre-order an anime item or purchase for ANYTHING near retail. Try supporting the industry for once instead of waiting for something to be discounted to such a ridiculously low price that TSRI is selling its overstock or buying .01 plus shipping used from Joe Schmo on Amazon.

Yeah, you would spend $80 on a Warcraft video game but Shana?? Forget it...
