Well I remember reading great reviews about this show but never picked it up because it was not dubbed. But at amazon.com they list the blu-ray edition of Ghost Hound the complete collection as having Japanease, and english language. Is this true? Is there really a english language on the show? I don't wanna buy it and then find out there ain't. So if someone could please help me on this I would greatly appreciae it! Here is the link that states it has both English and Japanease languages.
http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Hound-Complete-Collection-Blu-Ray/dp/B003TX8Q5G/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1290275608&sr=1-1 Also the dvd release of Ghost Hound the complete collection states it only has Japanease language while the blu-ray has both english and japanease. So if anyone can confirm if it has english language in the blu-ray I would greatly appreciate it! thanks |

The complete collection for both the DVD and BR have a dub actually, the original half season packs did not however. So if you want the dub avoid those and you should be fine!

What happened is Sentai originally released the show in two parts (Volume 1 and Volume 2) with subtitles only.
The show sold well enough that they decided to re-release it with a dub. That goes for both the BluRay and DVD versions, if you look at the cover image for either one it says "NEW ENGLISH DUB". I don't know why the Amazon page for the DVD Complete Collection calls it "Collection 1" or lists it as being subtitled only when that is clearly not the case, but here's the Rightstuf listing for comparison, which does mention the dub. |

Perhaps this is going on with all the distributers, but I've noticed Sentai in particular practicing this a lot as of late. |

my wife picked up the DVD of Ghost Hunt and it definitely has a dub. i prefer the sub since the english language makes it seem even more hokey and non-creepy. but, as some reviewers have pointed out, this show is not so much trying to be about the creepiness as it is an exploration of the relationships between the characters who do the ghost hunting. in Ghost Hunt i do like the english-speaking voice actors, especially Travis Willingham. ever since Mushi-Shi i'm pretty much ready to listen to him to the english dub of anything. also, i'm currently watching Ghost Hound. its got a dub. i haven't listened to it except on a couple times for a few seconds on accident, but i've got the DVD set and its definitely there too. |

I'm not sure why you're talking about Ghost Hunt in a Ghost Hound discussion. Nobody asked about Hunt having a dub, and you talk about Hound later in your post, so it's not like you confused the two. But since you brought it up... I find the bolded curious, since lack of character development and interaction was my primary complaint about Ghost Hunt. See my collection for a slightly more detailed opinion. |

No need to worry; I wasn't irritated by it. I found it perplexing, because when I first read your post, I was thinking, "ah, this person is confusing Hound for Hunt." Then I hit the last paragraph in your post, where you mentioned that you were also watching Hound. So then I was like, "Wait, this person didn't confuse them? So why did... where... whaaaa...?!"
All in all, it was fairly amusing. |

ok thanks for replying to my questions. I have some other questions though. Is Ghost Hound a quality anime. Is it better than Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Eden of the East?

i'm only part-way through Ghost Hound (10 episodes) and have watched the first 3 episodes of Eden of the East. a lot depends on what you mean by "is it better than" ...? more interesting story? better characters? those things will depend on what you like so are dependent to your own subjective leanings. better animation quality? better background design? they're pretty close so far. Eden has some amazing sets with complicated layers and wonderful lighting. but i'm more interested (so far) in Ghost Hound. the animation is solid, but i'm mainly in it for the mild creepiness, the amazing sound effects, and the psychological story. but it's a very thin line i'm drawing there between those two. they're both excellent. i have read reviews and viewers comments about GH where some fans were disappointed in the ending -- though i've also read the opposite. there's seems to be a split house there. on the other hand i've read reviews that said Eden was the best thing to come out that whole year.
also, i think it would be hard to reasonably compare anything to FMA on an anime forum -- not because its untouchable, but because its become cemented in so many fans' minds as some kind of pinnacle. myself, i have never had any interest in it. |

ok thanks. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is good but there is anime better than that show. But what does everyone think of Ghost Hound? Is it a quality anime or what?

Ghost Hound is certainly a quality anime. It should have won an award for the sound design alone. From basic footsteps to radio static sfx, everything is so unnaturally crisp it keeps you on edge even during the most mundane scenes.
It took me a long time to figure out why the kids creeped me out so much. I think it's because their eyes, especially Taro's, look like the eye spots on moth wings (which are spooky to me), and surely that's intentional. There're a lot of little details like that in this series that sort of subliminally add to the creep factor. The ending was fine, but they really could have used 1 or 2 more episodes to get there and wrap it up. I mean spoiler[the smash cut from the gloomy, rainy forest, to the sunny, cloudless day out on the road kind of reminded me of the graveyard in Plan Nine from Outer Space...] Still, I highly recommend it. Oh, and the OP is fantastic. :D It's not expensive, just go buy it. :) |

I loved the start of this anime but for me the threads completely unwound sometime before the end of the anime. They should have kept it closer to the mysterious premise they had at the beginning rather then wrap it up spoiler[in to some family squabble]. I particular had issue with the way spoiler[you are lead to believe that shadow man is the main antagonist but by the end it kind of forgets all about that and delivers some boring melodrama about people and clans.]
Such a shame considering the production was of such a high quality. |

If you live in the US (or possibly other places, I don't know what kind of restrictions the anime network has), you can watch it right now and figure out the answer to this question yourself. |
