Milky Holmes? Seriously? I did not see that coming, honestly. I'm glad, don't get me wrong, but I'm surprised. Bravo.

Thank you, Crunchyroll now I can continue watching Mobile Suit Gundam where I left off. I watch half of the MSG episode on Youtube courtesy of a legal uploader (animecentral, I believe was the name refresh my mind if I'm wrong).

So Demonbane finally goes legit.

On Crunchyroll.

This company's burning through that cash infusion way, way too fast.

I foresee a "404" error in its future if it doesn't settle down despite being good news a little too late.

I've already seen it.

Good to see you're still a paragon of quality, Crunchyroll.

Wow this is awesome news! Tantei Opera was one of the top series I wanted to watch this season. Can't wait for all of these to get a DVD release (and hopefully with an english dub option).

Essentially a Kadokawa and Bandai Ent. deal. Quite nice, especially with Lucky Star (seemingly forever tied with Haruhi Suzumiya, marketing-wise), which I haven't seen yet. Good to see those unreleased KPUSA titles make it onto Crunchyroll.

Just because you have seen it doesn't mean everyone else has, or that it is a pointless acquisition because of it. It's not on DVD still and Kadokawa still wants to both make money on it and raise its awareness. I don't see why CR themselves would want to turn a show like it down, especially when it fits into their demo. They managed to turn a profit recently, IIRC, and have added some major properties in BLEACH, Gundam, and Haruhi Suzumiya, so I doubt Demonbane would be breaking their backs any further.

Huh:

Crunchyroll will also bring the first Mobile Suit Gundam series (with the English dub) ... back onto the site after the panel on Saturday
... streaming the dub to sell a DVD re-release featuring a new sub. There's a twist in the usual.

Milky Holmes does not really surprise me, as Einhorn303 noted in another site's forum, 22 September:
Quote:
I'd love for Milky Holmes to be on CR. It kind of seems to hit that right range for CrunchyRoll, too, of being:

- Too niche for the mainstream, but...
- Still not the most hyped among the 2ch/otaku taste-makers.

That makes it unlikely to go to an R1 distributor, but easy and cheap to pick up.

If the deal was to simulcast it with the TVQ airing on Sunday, holding the announcement til their NYAF panel was pretty much a natural.

Yippee Milky Holmes! The contrast of the OP and ED definitely insured that I would be watching. Laughing

You mean the switch from "Awww, isn't that cute. Those girls are adorable!" to "Holy crap, I think I hit the bottom of my desk, and I don't mean with my knees!!!"? Yeah... that hooked me as well.

Streaming rights and DVD distribution rights ARE NOT the same thing.

****, if this is right then I need to get my hands on the dubbed DVD's FAST.

Seriously, the english dub for Lucky Star is probably one of my favorite dubs of all time... I'd hate to miss out cause they're out of print. ;-;

So Gundam streams again. I should've know something was up when I found all of Gundam 00 season 2 had been uploaded onto Bandai's Youtube.

The media-distribution website Crunchyroll has announced at its New York Anime Festival/New York Comic Con panel on Saturday that it licensed the anime titles Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Lucky Star, Cosplay Complex, Demonbane, and The Magician's Academy (Macademi Wasshoi!). Lucky Star and Cosplay Complex were previously released on DVD in North America by Bandai Entertainment and ADV Films, respectively. Crunchyroll will be announcing other titles when the formal announcement for Lucky Star and Cosplay Complex is released.

It doesn't say anything about Streaming or DVD Distributing rights. It just says "it licensed the anime". This was the reason Durarara couldn't be licensed by Aniplex, because CR wouldn't budge.
