While watching the credits for Green Legend Ran, I noticed that for the companies it had MTV as animation producer for the first of the three episodes. A bit skeptic about it, I looked at the Japanese wikipedia page and it had エム・ティ・ヴィ as production. Does エム・ティ・ヴィ = MTV Japan? I noticed that ANN's MTV page has Wrath of the Ninja - The Yotoden Movie in it's list as one of the producers. The problem is that WotN is a 1989 movie. MTV Japan was created in December 1992.

It's also possible that maybe MTV Japan had a precursor company. Similar to how Mushi Productions went bankrupt then opened a new version.

Perhaps MTV Japan also has some kind of other subsidiary that's marketed as a portion of the larger firm.

The Japanese Wikipedia disambiguation page for "MTV"
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV_(%E6%9B%96%E6%98%A7%E3%81%95%E5%9B%9E%E9%81%BF) does not list "エム・ティ・ヴィ", but a search for it does also turn up another anime credit—for Samuraider: Nazo no Tenkousei (OAV) (#7326). |
