Well, damn, that's news to me. I thought there was just Anime Central. I have to admit I have never been to a convention before, but I'm strongly considering going to AC. Any advice out there?

I like ACen, and go every year so that I can have a "con" con.. one where there isn't a whole lot of news, where I can go and hang with friends and just chill most of the time. There's plenty of stuff going on, and the dealers room usually has some rare goods (if you're into that sorta thing).. IIRC, they run 24 hour video rooms, so if it's 4am and you just got up from a nap, there's probably videos airing somewhere in the hotel.

ACen has more attendees now than Otakon did when I first started attending cons, but it's still only a mid-sized convention as far as anime cons go.. I expect the draw to be somewhere around 5,000-6,000 people this year (my first Otakon, by comparison, had only 4,500)...

One must wonder just how large these anime conventions can become. 20k? 30k? AX should pull around 17k this year (over a 4-day period) while Otakon should get 15k in 3 days...

ACen was fun last year, although I only went one day. The screening rooms weren't great, BAAF's were much better. Since, those are the only 2 cons I've been to, I have nothing else to compare them to. This year I'm going to ACen all 3 days, should be fun...

I went to A-Kon www.a-kon.com and AnimeFEST! www.animefest.org last year. Both were a blast and I had an excellent time. Although I kinda do get to brag, being from Texas and A Kon is the oldest con in the states. We reaked general on people and the dealer's room. But since we didn't have a hotel room, carpooled up there for 3 and 4 days. BUT!! This year I have an A Kon room to crash in, so, no more trips for me! Plus, I plan on bringing my comp to the BYOC, and that'll be a blast. But no trading anime, 'cause if they catch you distributing licensed stuff, you can get Black listed from the con. You can never go back. Ever.

Anyway, enough of my ranting.
