Ironic how this studio nets more.
Not that I don't appreciate it! I love Galaxy Express 999, Dragon Ball, and One Piece as much as the next one!
If anything, I'm just surprised that a filler movie made a difference...

Well, Strong World, isn't exactly a filler movie as it was personally supervised by Oda himself. It was one of those stories that he couldn't fit in his manga, so he decided to make it a feature film instead. There's also a Strong World one shot he did to coincide with the film. It's also the prequel chapter to the One Piece manga.

Maybe they can use the money to real reanimation for Dragon Ball Kai.
Then again, maybe it's because they didn't that they have the money.

So, "earn money from One Piece and spend it on Dragon Ball", is what you're trying to propose? Sure... Good or bad animation, Dragon Ball will sell the same.

I bet they'd even have higher earnings next year if they decided to re-release Sailor Moon.

I think I've been a fan of Toei since I'd see their name at the end of Transformers and Voltron cartoons, that was 1984.

I wonder if these numbers figure in the money from the short they did for the Halo anthology. Toei has such a large stable of recognizable IP (in Japan at least) that they will be in a good position for a while.

I'm going to say the latter. I've seen their work on a few occasions, and I'm not one to complain about animation but....well it's not all that spectacular.

This is not surprising news, considering how well Dragon Ball Kai and One Piece have been doing ratings-wise in Japan. The Dragon Ball brand always does well for the company internationally, and the One Piece brand continues to carry the torch from Dragon Ball in Japan.

Nice returns. Now pull Sailor Moon out of the dark cellar, give her a bath and an airing and make some more money. Go on, you know you want to.
