Haters... why?

I was looking up the ratings of Bakemonogatari which to my knowledge had been in the top 10 for the past few weeks when suddenly it dropped - so I begged the question - "Why?"

I looked at the ratings and what I found was... well let's just say I lost a few IQs and a little bit of hope for the internet community.

All the ratings that's been given so far have been based on english subs, however if you note the "Worst evers" (27 as of now) 25 of them are based on english dubs which, I don't think even exists.

Why haters? Sad

EDIT - I realize I may have posted this on the wrong forum, so if an admin would be so kind as to relocate this thread, please do so X_X

I just checked it... WOW

I remember yesteday there were 1 "weak" and 2 "worst ever" ratings... now it's 15 and 27 respectively. I can't believe that 30+ people voted in just exactly two categories (other ratings didn't change at all)... I can only conlude that this is 'one' of the outrageous haters with a bunch of accounts on ANN.

Just sad. But don't let it get you down! Real people will bring the justice and vote it back to the top ten where it belongs Razz ! (I have a little hope that this is just an error and it will reset next encyclopedia update)

People are idiots. That's all there is to it. Don't ask why haters hate, they just do. But if they do so unjustifiably, then you can laugh, snicker, and poke fun of them all you want, which sounds like the case here. As long as you like Bakemonogatari and can defend it intelligently (hint, hint, I'm saying most haters probably can't), then you've got nothing to worry about.

Oh man, there are far (two) too many pictures and an extra summary. I'd submit error reports, but as somebody who hasn't seen the show, I have no idea which ones are the best. (My gut tells me the third picture and the second summary.)

It's not an error. Some idiots had spammed Tony's favorite show in order to pull it down form the long time #1 position.

A problem is that Bakemonogatari has never released a clean key visual (キービジュアル) to the press; similar problem can be found with Shakugan no Shana (first TV series) as well. It's better than the first, but it should remove the first three words ("Bakemonogatari centers on..."). The third rule already stated

Dormcat, is this a good image? I can find all the characters in the current picture in the one I linked. I guess the guy is Koyomi as well? The title could be cropped out too, which would make it adhere to the no text guideline and would have the added benefit of make it closer to square as well.

Yes, certainly better than the existing one, although it looks a bit like a harem. Mr. Green I've cropped and uploaded it under your credit; you can edit it if you find a better one.

I think that pic is perfect. We have Araragi acting like a badass, his girlfriend sits on his leg (threatening him with a stapler), Tsubasa is watching over them, and the rest of the cast(minus only Oshino...). Excellent image I believe. It should stay.

Ah, and no, Bake is not a harem. Wink

I assume that the 'trustworthiness' index of a user is reduced whenever they rate an audio track which doesn't yet exist. Thus, they sacrifice their opinions' quantitative value by contributing them in such a manner.

Hah I've just noticed that after looking at this thread. But I guess there's nothing to worry about since we all know Bakemonogatari is the best anime this last season. Also, just rated it a masterpiece.

It is apparent that there are probably genres or themes missing based on the description and image. I haven't watched it of course but would it be safe to assume that the themes "vampires" and "sports" could be added to the description?

I guess this is how we got "slice of life" in genres. People think: "I've never seen it but I want to contribute! Sounds like it's all about vampires! I should add genres and themes I think fit based on summary! Yau I am useful!".

Not really. Araragi's vampirism is mainly mentioned in passing, and sports is a stretch because, while two of the characters play sports, it is mainly off screen, and not really the subject of any part of the plot. They are important details, but themes are intended to be what the show is about, not every minor aspect of the show.

I don't want to make Bakemonogatari look like "the great sufferer" but the negative count on "weak" and "worst ever" has DOUBLED! 32 and 53 now... From #6 or so to #28 and now #74(not that I care any longer)

My question to ANN staff: "is there any way to fight against spammers?" I mean this is just ridiculous.

Agreed, but I'm afraid that only Dan can deal with technical details like this. Sad

Those are 51 dubs in the same (i.e. English) language, unlike the previous case in which one user submitted "worst ever" using each and every language dub/sub option available, so it looks like someone(s) created at least 51 accounts just to spam the rating. Mad
