Isn't an LA Ashita No Joe basically Rocky?

Count me as another who won't complain about the JE's dudes in movies and tv anime/manga adaptations.
I never liked Stallone as "Rocky", at least Yamapi can enunciate his words and act at the same time, regardless of anyone who may complain about his idol-status.
I'm looking forward to this!

I always thought that Yamapi would make an ideal Miyata from Hajime no Ippo, but I can see him as Joe. He does have this cool, but Joe is this total bastard (in every sense of the word, but still a bad ass) and I can't imagine Yamapi as that. He's a different kind of bastard from the Kurosagi character. I wonder if he'll do the theme song.
I also wonder who will play Rikiishi, Tange, Yoko, Carlos, Jose, Wolf, and others

Say what you will about YamaPi's acting* but at least he'll make a more convincing boxer than "not-even-close-to-being-borderline-overweight" Kame in the One Pound Gospel drama, right?
*And I will: The only drama I've ever seen YamaPi star in that I liked, nay, loved, is Nobuta wo Produce. He was also good as part of the ensemble casts of Stand Up! and IWGP (where it seems he picked up a lot King's strange mannerisms to use as Akira in NwP, btw) but beyond that I could just never get into anything else he's ever done. That's quite strange because when I like an actor in a drama I generally find most of their other dramas at least watchable if not great. Yet Pi doesn't inspire that in me.
