Not that this will matter to many, but the My-Hime blu-ray box has english subtitles and dub, along with Chinese (Mandarin) dub as well. All audio is lossless PCM. It has the same Japanese/English (International) choice before it starts as several other Honneamise releases; if you choose International even the menus are in English. And though it is several years old, My-Hime is not an upscale.
Of course, even releases like this show up on fansub sites (This one has already started). You have a release with everything you could ask for regardless of sub/dub preference, with no region coding to worry about. I wonder what sort of justification you can make other than "Costs too much, not going to pay for it, so I'll take it."

Ok have checked it is actually region free, not just A which will not play in europe.
This means that their distributor ( Honneamise, Beez, Madman etc.) just has to repackage/print it to sell eslsewhere, not do full remasters etc. But they will have to delay if they release at western prices due to parallel import risk or control how it is retailed very firmly.( e.g. only sell direct from their own site to local customers. Or do something like this gundam unicorn release)
A good move so long as they advertise they are doing it. More full price sales is something the market needs; especiallly given how hard the market has been hit by the economy recently.
Not that I'm going to be feeling rich enough to warent buying something expensive enough to get import duty (not just VAT and handeling) charged on it.

That's pretty much the only justification I can make. I simply cannot pay $245 + international shipping for a title I already own on DVD.

I wonder if anyone here would care about 'My-HiME' on Blu-ray?
I think folks are 'HiME'd out. Too bad the last 3 OVAs never came over.
'Toaru Kagaku no Railgun' looks interesting. Always looking for a 'My-HiME' replacement.

Just saw the series for the first time a little over a year ago, but I don't have a Blu-ray player or an HDTV, so I'll just stick with buying the DVD set.
I did buy The Wings of Honneamise Blu-ray/DVD set, but only because a local store had it in stock for less than the cost of special ordering. In the meantime, I think there are AV theater rental places here which can handle Blu-ray if I ever feel the need to get my money's worth.
