Kikukawa raised the tension level in the audience when he asked who had seen the series, "either legally or through some other method." A few hands shot up, and Ishiguro thanked the fans regardless.

Poor guy's probably glad anyone still cares about an oyaji like him, or even the sci-fi anime genre in general.

Why would they torture the panel goers by showing them Ishiguro's biggest mistake, Tytania? That show was an absolute trainwreck, and the most disappointing anime I've ever seen.

If only they could have shown an episode or two of Legend of the Galactic Heroes instead. Now that's a masterpiece. How I long to have that released in R1 some day.

I would not describe it using too harsh terms, but still...the show was no Legend of the Galactic Heroes and, if the description in the article is accurate, then even the author knew that. It's too bad that the production team couldn't find a way to make it work.

I don't think it's too likely that either series will end up being officially released in Region 1 for the time being.

In the case of LOGH the previous attempt to bring it over was doomed ever since they announced the price point. Tytania spent too much time focusing on the least interesting side of the story and doesn't really look like something that would sell.

I also have to wonder if there weren't any other questions and issues raised during the panel. Aside from his work on LOGH and Macross, Noboru Ishiguro has directed other shows. If I were there I'd ask a question about the ending to Orguss or, just for the heck of it, Megazone 23. Razz
