The games look fun, and they teach you to multitask. This system could work.

Now that its all out there for the first time i feel the Wii U wont be a complete Failure out of the gate. That Tekken Tag 2 Trailer shows that the Wii U version could be considered the Essential Version, at least in terms of content. Obviously its Online experience will suffer compared.
Looks like they have some good games lined up soon too. I still think New Super Mario Bros 2 at launch is an awful idea. They should have Made a Mario platformer for launch and perhaps saved Mario Galaxy 2 for later on into this systems lifespan. Lastly i still think Nintendoland should have been a pack in like Wii Sports. That could still prove to be a huge mistake on getting people onboard with this system. There's no denying that the Wii wouldn't of hit the number sit did without Wii Sports as a pack in. I'm slightly less pessimistic now BUT i still think the Wii U could come dangerously close to being Nintendo's Dreamcast. If it wasn't for the all there IPs that they can rely on i'd be predicting the end of Nintendo in the hardware market. Something i would like actually tbh. I wanna play Mario Galaxy 3 on my Xbox 720, its more convenient for me. I know many many others will disagree through loyalty and just Nostalgia for the Nes and Snes more than anything. |

It's worth noting that the disc read speed is reportedly over double that of the PlayStation 3.
I'm super ecstatic for the Wii U. The European launch lineup is awesome. Also, Europe is getting a Limited Edition with the Premium Edition console, a black Wii U Pro Controller and ZombiU. Also, the launch title list is wrong. The only confirmed launch titles are: Japan: Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition New Super Mario Bros. 2 America: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Europe: Call of Duty: Black Ops II Fifa 13 Mass Effect 3: Special Edition. Nintendo Land New Super Mario Bros. U Rayman Legends Zombi U Monster Hunter is due out in March 2013, while Ninja Gaiden, Warriors Orochi, Tekken and Assassin's Creed are launch window titles (Also, it's "Pikmin 3" not Pimim). Bayonetta 2???? On Wii U???? WTF?????? See this is the crap I hate. Why the hell would take a game like Bayonetta that originated on XB360 and PS3 and make it a Nintendo exclusive. I mean I can understand when it calls for being an exclusive but this is ridiculous!! So now you split up the damn series by almost forcing gamers to break down and buy a new system. Talk about a racket. They made NMH for Wii then released NMH2. Later they released an upgraded port for PS3 only but didn't release NMH2, when fans demanded it. If you're going to make an exclusive keep it exclusive, don't bother releasing it for another system unless you plan to do so for all the system. Don't just release a game that was on other system and then do an exclusive 2nd part. I know folks understand this better than I do but stuff like this pisses me off.
I wonder if there is a legitimate reason for this publisher-wise. |

Nintendo posted an updated list of titles that will go on sale on December 8, the day the Wii U launches in Japan. |

Soooo...what is the price of it in £ or €? It annoys me that we're some of the last ones, but can't complain when knowing Australia is usually worse off with all the censorship problems.

Fair enough. Might it be worth noting which games are only confirmed for particular regions though (such as the US and Europe not getting Monster Hunter until March?).
Maybe the developers just like the Wii U and feel that they can offer a better experience on it than they can on the PS360?
Amazon.co.uk have the basic for £220, with the Premium for £264. |

I am definitely getting this for the 3DS, and MH4 if this does well to get that one over here. |

IIRC Nintendo is actually publishing Bayonetta 2, which was previously canceled by Sega. So in theory Nintendo should be thanked for making the sequel possible in the first place, albeit the console exclusivity will definitely suck for people who don't plan on getting Wii U (it's definitely encouraging me to get a Wii U at some point in the future). I'm still on the fence about Wii U, and I'll have to see more exclusive titles and trailers before I'm sold on it. Being a bit more of a hardcore gamer, the Wii was kind of a letdown, so I'm not warmed up to the Wii U quite yet (a trailer for the next Smash would help tho). |

Wow, the launch looks very promising. But Bayonetta 2 on Wii U exclusively, I think that's going to anger some people who have PS3/360. But then again, could it get a PS3/360 port in the future and publish by SEGA like people never thought No More Heroes would get a PS3/360 port and published in US by Konami (not Ubisoft).

To the editors: the Premium subscription and the stands will be on the international Wii U Deluxe package, we still don't know about the pre-paid card.

Exactly. This was the reason why I stated that someone would know more about this matter than I would. I just visited GT.com just to see if there was any buzz about it considering the "teaser" trailer. I pretty much got an answer similar to what you stated. I didn't know that the series was "canned" some time after the first release. Although, I remember the creator stating that he wanted to do a sequel, the question was, would he really be willing to do one and get it approved, based on whatever popularity it received. As selling a new idea based off and older one is a hard sell. I found a comment where someone stated that this would be a plus, for Nintendo trying to appeal to hardcore gamers. So there are some excited about it. Maybe... Given Nintendo's reputation there is nothing hardcore about Nintendo. A mature game here and a mature game there that appeals to those that play XB360 or PS3 doesn't really equal hardcore. But let's see where this change goes. So unless you have all 3 systems then you got it covered but I doubt anyone is going to buy a Wii U just for one game. And not just any game but one in sequel. Though fans would. It would have to be a knockout. I could be wrong. FF7 was the one exception. But this will be an interesting gamble on Nintendo's part. Will the Wii U be a success or follow the path that the Wii is now going? As for me I don't own any of these systems. My niece owns a Wii but in reality it belongs to the household. But as a person doing collection development for my job, we haven't gotten a request for collecting Wii games for any academic purposes. Now if that happened then I can toss this on the list but for now I can't along with other games in the Wii I'd love to recommend. |

It really bums me out that Nintendo owns Monolith Soft. They're my favourite JRPG developer but I'm not going to get to play their next game without buying a Wii U which I just can't see happening. (In fact, I barely got to play their last game thanks to Nintendo's wacky localization plans). I can't even realistically hope for a port either because again, Nintendo actually owns them.

I still can't wrap my head around that controller
I mean, If I wanted to play a handheld game I'd play a handheld, but the whole purpose of playing a console game is so you experience game play on a larger screen (that and it normally offers a greater variety of controls). If I'm playing a console game, why would I want a big clunky controller with a screen in it just for the "option" of making it feel portable? Wouldn't I just want to play on my DS instead? I don't get it... |
