I'm terribly confused about the Code Geass DVDs.

This isn't so much about price at all, but the DVD editions themselves for Code Geass. I'm having trouble differentiating what's what. Let me explain:

There seems to be a Part One with an artbox that comes with it. Does this box hold just what is included for Part One? Kind of like the Lucky Star LEs? Or is this box used in the traditional way? To store the rest of the series DVDs.

If it's the latter, I still run into problems. There seems to be several different editions even to the singles! So which ones would go in the box to finish?

Not only that, but I've seen a Part 3 with an artbox. What's going on? Why couldn't Bandai have just done what every other company does when they choose to release a series by singles? Volume 1 (or sometimes the last volume) + an artbox to hold the rest of the series in. Bam, you're finished!

I suppose I could wait until they do their Anime Legends box sets, but it'll be half a decade before they get around to releasing them for Geass at the rate they're going. Someone help me!

I looked up this series and you're correct. There are special edition singles out there.
There must be a way to distinguish them, either by text or imagery. Sadly, ANN doesn't supply the art for all DVDs listed.

You may need to do a little more research on Google to get more information.

Bandai isn't the only one doing this, as several singles collections I've recently purchased has the box after the first.
There could be several reasons for this, but I would speculate the DVDs came before the official box design was approved/manufactured.
Better late than never, I suppose.
What bugs me are the single series that never come with one.

Let me help you. The Part 1 LE with the artbox is supposed to hold all the DVDs themselves. the "artboxes from LE Part 2 and 3 are basically throw-away boxes that are only supposed to hold the Manga and CDs. The normal edition box sets each hold 2 DVDs (same as the singles) with a slipcase. The normal singles were only released up to DVD 4 so you better don't buy those.

So all in all the DVDs included are always the same as the singles, so they all fit. Very Happy

Those are the normal box sets: http://www.amazon.com/Code-Geass-Leouch-Rebellion-Part/dp/B001AZ5IUG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1242404058&sr=1-5

So, in order, it's the Part One Box Set, and then 2 and 3 (LE or not) from the links above and I have a complete set with everything in one nice, neat box?

Apparently, anything with 2 discs goes in the box, as there are other singles with one disc. I think sword got it figured out for me.

I don't quite understand why it can get so confusing either.

Yeah I remember how confused I was seeing them in stores, all 3 versions >_> ...I'm a boxsetter all the way (NOW, that is) so I can wait for them to eventually come out as sets... although the wait for a .hack//ROOTS set STILL seems so far off 0_o
