Oh nooo, I hope that they'll all be OK and it's not back problems firing up again! It's crazy how hard these ladies work, and although I admire and respect them for that, I really think they could use more breaks. Hopefully this hiatus will do them good!

Eh, I seen this before.
Back when they couldn't find the ending of "Tsubasa" ....who wants to guess that their "illnesses" = "more time for research on how to end our manga"?
@Myaow: They don't work any more harder than any other mangaka and those mangaka don't have any breaks....just saying. Also, those other mangaka's work don't suffer in quality. Plus...there are four of them, are they all sick? Seems suspicious.

They're a well-oiled machine each of them taking on different jobs, if one of them got seriously sick it could throw off the whole way they make their comics.
As always, hope they get better and can get back to their manga series when they are healthy and able. The mangaka lifestyle is a ruthless one indeed.

Oh no no no no no NO! Seriously, whenever I hear news like this, I think of the worst possible things. Please let them, and all other people working in the industry be OK.

Ok yeah, cause a team of just four women (last I checked Kishimoto of Naruto had at least six people on his team) working on no less than three manga at a single time, along with character designs and concept art for anime and random illustration/advertising and book projects is totally an easy ride with no deadlines and stress at all. And they're of course still all in their early 20s.
I love it when people act like they know exactly what an artist goes through to make a living, and that drawing comics out is just so easy.

How do you know CLAMP doesn't have a team themselves? Besides, they chose to be part of all that stuff and chose to decide to make new manga instead of working on the manga they currently have.
Akira Amano is one woman, who makes her weekly deadlines (opposed to CLAMP's monthly manga) and has not taken a break once. Oh, did I mention she is also in her 40s? ....Yeah.
I was just saying why are they so special to get sympathy from fans when other mangaka work just as hard and are just as stressful? Also mentioning they do have four planners so it takes the load off just a mangaka that does all that they do and are only one person. Yeah, no. They don't get my sympathy, especially when they're treated all special and have nothing to show for it for the past few years.

CLAMP has said multiple times that they don't have any assitants. They're not getting any special treatment, it's just natural to wish for a favorite mangaka's well-being. Even in WSJ when a mangaka gets sick, he takes a week or two to rest (Tite Kubo takes a sick-break once or twice a year, and last year, Oda took probably three or four breaks).

1. Akira Amano has assistants, Clamp does not.
2. Some people choose to work for weekly magazines, some people for monthly. That isn't saying anything bad about a person working for either it can depend on the magaka's capabilities, number of assistants, and intricacy of artwork.
But besides that.
3. Are you really complaining that people are expressing their sympathy towards creators that they love? Clamp has fans, shocker of shockers that they are going to wish them well when one of them gets sick enough they have to take a hiatus.
If Akira Amano ever had to take a break for illness, I'm sure there will be people in the forums wishing her well just as they are here.
It's okay that you if you don't like Clamp as creators or their work, but are you really getting upset that people wish for one of them to recover to full health? Really?

Is it the back issues again? Well, whatever it is, I hope they can pass it and all is well.
And in commenting in response to the other comments: CLAMP does not have any assistants. It's just the 4 of them. There was originally more than 4 members but since they became the CLAMP that we know, it's just been the four of them.

I'm just saying people shouldn't believe everything that is said about said creators illnesses. I don't believe a team of four women can't continue working if one is not capable. I can understand if the the main "heart" of one mangaka, aka, like Akira Amano gets ill, she's the actual creator of the series and no assistant can work on her manga while she takes a break, however, CLAMP's heart is all four women. They know each other's work, why can't the other three pick up more of the slack if one is unable to? That's what I'm saying.
I remember there was incident where another mangaka went on hiatus due to illness and then he was found out shopping... Ever since then, I'm skeptical of any "illnesses" these mangaka say they have...

But in CLAMP every member does something different for every manga. Ohkawa is in charge of the stories in general. Mokona is usually in charge of drawing, designing and coloring, with few exceptions like Drug & Drop, which Nekoi is the artist for. Nekoi is also in charge of corrections and stuff and Igarashi coordinates the whole thing. So, for example, if Mokona can't draw, they can't put Gate 7 out. If Ohkawa is sick, nobody can't work because nobody has any story to draw.

So if the one who's, say, in charge of story is sick, the other three who are doing the art should just carry on without her?
If each of them collaborated on every aspect of the manga, then yeah, you might have a point, but CLAMP breaks their work up into very separate and distinct areas. It's not nearly as easy to cover for one person's absence in that kind of situation

You've never gone shopping while you were sick? I dunno about you, but I can't afford to spend a whole day in bed. Even if I'm home sick, my day still needs to be productive, and I need to get as much done as I can. If shopping needs to be done, I go shopping.

And it just goes to show that people can try sprouting crap as fact on a forum when they have no evidence as to what they're saying, and have already been proven wrong by their previously stated example. 4 people are in CLAMP, an average weekly POPULAR comic usually has around 4+ assistants. Out of the four of CLAMP two are the "Artist" but their art styles are still rather different when it comes to the comics those two draw (they usually assign each other a different manga, like one got XXXholic, the other Tsubasa). It'd be noticeable if the other were to suddenly take over the comic, but even with that who is to say the other doesn't work on the backgrounds or the line work?
No matter what your defense is and how much you may think you know about manga creation you obvious are assuming the lot of it. So how about you quit trying to put it off that one of the hardest working comic groups out there in the industry is unworthy of a break when one of them gets sick. All you're doing is trolling in a thread where fans just want to hope for the best in their health. If you can't respect CLAMP, that's your problem. Go somewhere else to complain about your theories of a group you don't know jack about.
And since you didn't catch it, I'll just point out to you that I was being being sarcastic about the age of CLAMP's members. They're either Akira Amano's age or older, so her abilities you put on that pure white pedestal of supreme manga-ka, impress me not.

How much of Drug & Drop have Clamp done? Are they even working on that title? I heard they picked it up again, but I'm shocked that Dark Horse hasn't picked it up.

It's only up to 9 chapters so far, give it some time before Dark Horse (or possibly another publisher) picks it up. They could be waiting for it to hit a certain number of chapters before licensing it.
