"There's the 26-episode Nadesico series and the movie, and that's it."
Don't forget the Gekiganger III oav sequel!
"Apparently the giant robo english dvds have come out"
The only way Giant Robo is available on dvd is through region 2 or bootlegs.
"Are there any plans for a sequel to Iria: Zeriam the Animation?"
There's a series of live action movies related to Iria called Zeiram, with the first movie available on dub-only dvd and the second movie available on bilingual dvd through Media Blasters. No word on if the third film has been picked up.
"There isn't any more 3x3 Eyes than the OVAs that were released."
But you can read the manga, which is partially translated from Dark Horse.

That's not a sequel... You'd call it a spin-off, but even that is a stretch.

Don't blame the questioner for having the wrong information...
... Zac answered the question (at least as far as it can be answered): the ENGLISH dvds haven't come out. we don't promote bootlegging, ya know. :p

But neither of the films (there's a 3rd? when did that come out?) is a sequel to the OVA series. Additionally, the questioner says, "This is my favorite anime, and I'd really like to see more than jsut the live-action movies".. so re-mentioning the movies really doesn't answer his question.

*nod* Maybe Zac could've mentioned the manga.. but his answer here isn't wrong either -- there aren't any more 3x3 Eyes OVAs.. (actually... aren't there 7 ovas? 4 in the first OVA series, and 3 in the second?)

So basically, everytime Answerman posts, you'll be here to debunk him then? :-)
Is this a long standing beef, or something new?

It's been this way for a long... long time...
Basically, it stems from how much information Zac writes up. There are times (such as the 3x3 question) which mentioning something not directly asked about like the 3x3 manga) would be beneficial to the questioner.
At other times, (like the Iria question) digging up info about the live action movies would be a waste of time for Zac, and wouldn't help the guy at all.
It's all a matter of trying to decide what deserves the extra effort, and what doesn't.

Gatsu and I have been mortal enemies for what... 2 or 3 years now? Ever since the days when Justin Sevakis ran this place. He goes out of his way to nitpick my answers. He's always had something to prove. Generally I read his "corrections" (which aren't corrections, they're additional information that's usually extraneous and doesn't need to be said to properly answer the question) and have myself a good laugh.
