Well, I'm in celebration because Jeff Gordon, one of my misplaced open wheel guys, was the winner.

A bit bummed that Kasey Kahne got spun in the closing stages when folks ran out of talent on the restart, but with good runs by Jason Leffler, Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Dave Blaney, and of course Jeff Gordon, the USAC brigade is still proving that real race cars don't have fenders.

This is our vengeance for having Indy stolen from us by CART and the IRL. If CART hadn't have decided they wanted to play F1, all of those drivers would be fighting it out at Indy.

Wow, areaseven, I don't care about Nascar in the slightest, but your cars are really cool. ^^ My friend used to have a Nascar game that you could add pre-made decals and draw on the cars (in a crappy MS Paint kind of way), but I really had fun with.. of course there was a car covered with bloody bodies with the words "Oh Dear God!" on the side.

The ANN car rocks! Xp

i saw the commercial before ong bak. it had the look of some of the ig stuff they sent over. animatrix sequences and ofcourse the kill bill sequence. yet, it was at a fraction of the quality. i also find it funny that they had "make it real" at the end. it was just....ridiculous. I never like pseudo-anime, but I agree that this was atleast better than that benihana commercial. which was all sorts of awful.

ah, from what i can tell, a good chunk of the anime watching demographic actually does come from the midwest, and if i'm not mistaken, that's also where nascar has a pretty big influence at too. So it isn't really a surprise to me.

i hate nascar. can't stand watching it. i completely and utterly hate watching it. I understand why people do it, but like baseball, I am befuzzled with the concept of watching something so boring. I mean, if you're driving, it's probably one of the most exhilirating things in the world. but seriously....watching cars go around in a lap for hours....and if I want to see crashes, I would just wait for highlight reels, because if it's for nascar, that's all they usually show in those..the crashes.

also, the drivers do need lots of endurance. they don't switch out drivers. driving at such speeds with just the slightest turns to keep wary of. it takes a toll on the mind. So I respect that. I also respect the pit crew, and the car mechanics. Still can't enjoy watching it though.

i don't like watching sports in general actually. unless there's a certain kitsch factor for me to enjoy or something that just looks cool.

Wow, I can't wait to see what the Full Metal Panic and R.O.D cars will look like. Heck, I can't wait to see what ALL of them will look like! Very Happy

BTW, I just came back from my local movie theatre, and I saw the commercial just before they showed the trailers. Looks like the commercial is hitting the American theatres now.

Yeah, AMC Theatres and other Coke-sponsored theatre houses had the commercial days before the Daytona 500.

I recently picked up EA Sports' NASCAR SimRacing for the PC. It looks nice and all, but it lacks the ability to customize your car design. Guess that means I'll be stuck with NASCAR Racing 2003 Season when it comes to designing anime cars.

Hm, perhaps there will be a car editor down the road in a patch or something.
areaseven, do you think you can do a GitS: Stand Alone Complex car? If so, you might want to do it as a paint scheme for Kasey Khane, because Khane drives car #9... Motoko and the boys work in Section 9... heh, I'm good... Cool

Actually, I'm already designing a car for that show. It's a Chevy and it'll use the #30 (since the series takes place in 2030). Some styling cues will be taken from the former #30 car (now #07 Jack Daniel's), but it will not take that car's AOL sponsor at all.

Some cars will be Nextel Cup "alternate" schemes (like the Budweiser/Heat Guy J car I designed), but majority will be original. Here's my number list so far:

0 - Gundam Wing / Gundam Wing Endless Waltz
006 - Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
01 - Neon Genesis Evangelion
02 - RahXephon
03 - R.O.D -The TV-
1 - AKIRA
2 - Noir
4 - Stratos 4
6 - Azumanga Daioh
7 - Samurai 7
8 - Heat Guy J
16 - Full Metal Panic! / Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu
17 - Figure 17
19 - Macross Plus
23 - Steel Angel Kurumi
24 - Hamtaro
28 - Tetsujin 28-Go
29 - Last Exile
30 - Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex
31 - Vandread
40 - Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
48 - Armitage III
60 - Trigun
67 - Gunsmith Cats
70 - Gate Keepers
71 - Cowboy Bebop
72 - Mazinkaiser
80 - Mobile Suit Gundam 0080
81 - Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
83 - Mobile Suit Gundam 0083
89 - Ah! My Goddess
91 - Mobile Suit Gundam F91
93 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
94 - Gatchaman
95 - Escaflowne
82 - Macross
88 - Area 88
99 - Dai-Guard
100 - The Big O
105 - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
503 - Yukikaze
666 - Hellsing

I'm open to suggestions with numbers for the following:

Blood: The Last Vampire
Gantz
Ninja Scroll
Samurai Champloo
s-CRY-ed
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Witch Hunter Robin

Do a Super Gals! one with the number 109 (as in Shibuya 109, the shopping building that is ground zero for tacky kogal fashions).

Lovin' the Gundam number scheme. BTW, if you ever do a Mobile Suit Gundam car, the number'd have to be either 78 or 79 (RX-78-2, 79 corresponds to lots of things, most notably the premiere date of 1979 and setting year of UC0079, but there's also RGM-79, RB-79, etc.), and a Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny car'd have to be either 56 (Impulse Gundam: ZGMF-X56S), 1000/1001 (ZAKU designations), or whatever number Shinn's new Gundam ends up with. Laughing

For Blood, 92 would probably be a good one spoiler[(corresponding to 1892, the year marked on the photograph of Saya),] and 98'd be perfect for any potential Patlabor cars (AV-98 Ingram, "Alphonse's" desgination). Hm...thinking about it, 78 might also be a good number for a Rurouni Kenshin car (1878, the setting of the series).

I still think that #9 would make more sense for a Stand Alone Complex car, but hey, to each his own, I suppose... I trust what you're doing will make sense... Anime smile
Oh, and btw, it's kinda cute that the 24 is the Hamtaro car... you really must hate the Wonder Boy... Anime catgrin
And one more thing... perhaps the Champloo car can be the 29 car? It's the sort of anime Harvick might like...
EDT: Whoops, didn't notice that the 29 was taken. Perhaps the 07 car then?

Also, if you ever do a Sailor Moon car, make it #10, as in (Azabu) Juban, the neighbourhood where the series takes place.
