At long last, a convention for the rest of us.

If by 'the rest of us,' I mean the vacuous, shrieking adolescent fangirls and weirdly obsessive she-pedophiles who are apparently doing their damndest to make the public face of anime fandom as repellent as possible to most people, that is.

Still, if they want to reach the apex of fandom stigmatization, they're going to have to put in some serious hard work: hirsute, middle-aged male Sailor Moon cosplayers and adult male otaku leering over prepubescent fanservice still have the edge. But neither of those two groups, at least to the best of my knowledge, has a convention organized around the particular twisted behavior they're living out under in the guise of interest in the Japanese media arts.

Don't knock it til you try it, Foix. And beware, you may actually find you like it. Or even that these "twisted" fans are generally perfectly normal -- soccer moms, grad students, administrative professionals, teachers, doctors, attorneys, executives, military personnel...okay, maybe not the military personnel. ^.~

And the fact that the convention has been successful says much about the dedication and professionalism of the staff.

Twisted. I resemble that remark. What great fun.

THAT'S HORRIBLE!! Shocked

Though I guess it could be just a matter of time, I don't think those into it would be willing to go as they could be very likely putting their lives on the line to even attend such a convention, much less run it.

actually, the law's quite clear on that matter; the supreme court ruled that *virtual* child pornography isn't child pornography.

however, such a gathering would inevitably attract the attention of law enforcement, which is NOT what real pedophiles want.

those who attend might have their reputations ruined if someone were to recognize them.. but by merely attending they won't be in any legal danger, unless they were *real* pedophiles.

Actually, it's not the law they would have to fear. It's those that think it is child porn anyway and would go there just to beat the crap out of those who were going there for a good time. O_o

And I know people like that...
