Yeah, this "Anime" commercial wasn't good. I had somewhat higher expectations when coming in, but they were shattered on the way out.

Maybe their ad folks should do some more, uh, research and try again. Thanks for trying, though. Drive thru!

[edit: changed "reference" to "research."]

You had "expectations" for an effing Coke commercial? Are you kidding me? Please tell me you're kidding.

Yeah, I'm more of a Pepsi guy myself... and it's not for the free iTunes songs promotion that they're running now (although it helps that I have a U2 edition iPod... Wink ).

Still, let's put this into perspective. We can all agree that thie ad was... subpar, but what about the casual stock car fan who knows nothing about anime? I'm pretty certain that Joe NASCAR fan might find the ad neat. Wink

I'm pretty sure the linkin park video is also production IG.

The Linkin Park video was produced by Studio Gonzo, not Production I.G.:

I suggest you take your own advise, hkrok76. Wink

touche. I was going to add in, "but I'm not sure." You got me there ^^

Things that led to confusion. So it was directed by the director of Kill Bill, but animated by Gonzo. I didn't really care about the Linkin Park video, so didn't bother going in depth into any research. Hence I was only pretty sure and not completely. With that said, Kill Bill is still Production IG, and the coke commercial is most definitely not.

Other than that, I will concede my point to the original poster too. ::sigh:: I suck.

hkrok76, don't worry about it, my friend! Wink

A couple of you mentioned that the commercial is airing in the theatres. I saw it Friday night when I saw Man of the House(which is a pretty decent movie; a lot funnier than Son of the Mask, which was totally unfunny). areaseven mentioned that the commercial is now circulating in the Coca Cola-sponsored theatres across North America.

Has the commercial air during today's race? I just tune in a couple of minutes ago.

I didn't like the commercial either. Certainly didn't seem anime-like.

The commercial had me thinking "Very high quality flash animation." In otherwords, the shortcuts and such are evidnent (a decent amount of stills and such, good art though), but quite good for an amateur company. Some parts look pretty anime-ish, while some look more of a U.S. comic book type.

Coke should have done better. After-all, their Final Fantasy 9 Coke Commerical was brilliant in Japan! After seeing the NasCar Coke Commerical, it should've been WAY better if it was supposed "Anime-like". (In case you haven't seen the commercial from Coke of FF9, look it up. It's good!) But honestly, Coke should've done ALOT better! It was just sad... Sad
