Ok, I checked the updated Encyclopedia entry on Tokyo Mew Mew. It looks like there's couple of newbies who did the voices of the Mew Mews. How intriguing. Neutral

I did indeed do just that, but, apparently, WJBK, the Fox station in Detroit which Rogers Cable carries all over Ontario, doesn't bother with the syndicated 4Kids TV block at all, either on Saturdays or Sundays, so all I got was half-an-hour of local news.

I can not believe how they raped, and yes I do mean raped Tokyo Mew Mew!!! The people at 4kids should be shot for what they did to TMM. Not only did they rape the anime, but they also showed ep 12 first. I've rewatched the ep sub titled again, and not only did they butcher it,but they also cut out several scenes. I can't believe they changed the names so horribly too. You would think that when an american company buys the rights to an anime from japan, or anything for that matter from another country that they would watch it(even if you can only go by the fansubs, being this is anime) and atleast follow the content of the story! This is the exact reason why I pray that no anime that I watch ever gets licensed.

Didn't see Tiffany Volmer's name listed.
Lisa Ortiz, Rachel Lillis, Veronica Taylor (Pokemon, Slayers)

I just read the edits (thanks for the link, darkchibi) and oh my gosh, I could tell it had been butchered but I didn't realize how bad! Those bakas at 4ke are seriously ticking me off! I mean, when I saw it, I was thinking, either they chopped it to bits or the anime is a LOT different from the manga. My first thought was apparently correct, considering how much they changed it. Now I know who the term "American Idiot" refers to! Damn it, I'm mad!

Well I can see this thread lasting a long time with such positive commentary like that. Rolling Eyes

Well, I had already assumed that with it having a lot of females, we would need some relatively fresh blood. In order to even think about having sharing of VA's, we need to look at studio/resdience locations (This is why FUNi and ADV share voices occasionally)

Since I was at Katsucon, I didn't see the episode. From the feedback, I'm hoping that this joins the ranks of Mon Colle Knights and Flint the Time Detective as awesomely ridiculous shows and not join Duel Masters and Groove Adventure Rave in the flaming bag of awful shows.

Amanda Brown who plays Zoey is brand new to animation VO, although she has done lots of commercials and stage work.

Andi Whaley who plays Corina is also a rookie. She's another stage actor who normally does a lot of musicals. She was great in this series.

Bella Hudson who plays Bridget is the only experienced Mew Mew. She's done a lot of anime in NYC for NYAV and TripWire. She's got an incredible range, she also plays Luffy in One Piece.

Kether Donohue plays Kikki. She's new to this and is by far the youngest of the bunch. She's done lots of TV and is just now getting into the anime VO thing. She had a small part in CPM's The Boy Who Wanted to be a Bear and just got herself a large role in a Media Blasters series.

Mollie Weaver who plays Renee is new to acting as well. She's most often heard singing various 4 Kids themes as she's one of their top singers. She's also the chick singing for the (ugh) 4 Kids Five.

Sean Schemmel plays Elliot. You guys should know his work by now. He shows off a much different range for Elliot which is actually quite close to his normal speaking voice.

Andrew Rannells plays Wesley and Dren. He's been in tons of 4 Kids stuff and is currently in the cast of Hairspray on Broadway.

Scottie Ray is Mark. He's done tons of CPM stuff over the years and can also be heard in a WAY different role than Mark on Mew Mew. He is the voice of Shredder in TMNT.

Oh yeah - the chick who sings the theme song is Bree Sharp who had that weird "David Duchovny why won't you love me" song on the radio a few years back.

Wow, I've never seen Tokyo Mew Mew, but the edit list is pretty impressive. What I don't understand: it takes money, time, and effort to edit and change the anime. Wouldn't it be more economical to make as few cuts/bizarre alterations as possible? Also the fact that nonexistent talk about boys was added offends me. Why? Why must every cartoon for girls teach girls to be shallow boy-crazy valley girls?

Do not be ignorant. 4Kids is really the only company that destroys anime; most normal anime companies (ADV, CPM, Funi, Viz, etc.) offers subtitled, totally uneditted dvds. Anime getting licensed by normal companies is a good thing. -_-[/b][/quote]

Well, starting out on episode 12 instead of the first one and then having a flashback or whatever to the earlier episodes afterward makes me wonder if they're doing a Dragonball GT again or if it's more of a Cardcaptors thing again. Althought Cardcaptors was editted to try to make it seem more boy-oriented, it seems as if they're trying to make Mew Mew Power as un-boy-friendly as they can. Confused

I'm not being ignorant, I've seen many times that they have killed an anime, by several different companies, ADV, Funi, Viz included. It's a shame what they do to the great animes. It should be a requirement when they license anime that they have to keep the content the same and no major changes. And it's your opinion, that it's a good thing that "normal" companies license anime. Everyone that I know that is into anime feels otherwise. And lastly, what is so normal about say for example, ADV. NOTHING!!!

The licensors fully approve of the sorts of changes 4Kids makes, otherwise they wouldn't license to them.

The Japanese licensors just want to make a buck in the American market too, they aren't usually concerned with artistic integrity, and the pile of money to be made by altering content and "localizing" it to make it suitable to North American children is potentially much, much larger than the small mound of money to be made keeping a show intact for the purist niche.
