I didn't expect this either. I saw Richard Bennet just a couple of weeks ago at Ohayocon and he gave no indication that this will happen.
I wish luck to him and the former employees in their future endeavors.

It's always sad when a company with such a cute logo shuts down.

um...or you could just read the news item first. "[A]ll orders that have been placed will be filled, however no new orders are being accepted."

Not so...Amerimanga 6 has not been released yet, AFAIK, and it has appeared on Diamond's cancelled list in November. So one may assume that it has not been printed, and now may never be printed.

At least, the press release isn't very clear on the fate of comics that are/were still in production.

I'm shocked it took this long. My personal experience with ICE was great at first, until it came to them honouring their side of the contract (ie payment) and delivering the AmeriManga books I needed for several booked and paid for convention tables. (this was prior to the mass exodus)

My group lost a lot of opportunity and money because of their internal problems; nothing like sitting at con tables with nothing to sell...

I dread to know the nightmare pro manga-ka had gone through with them.

That was more of a joke than anything. It was my understanding that Amerimanga was canceled a long time ago; I never expected to see that issue anyway. Would've been nice if they had refunded me for it but I don't feel like raising a stink over $5.

I think the manga is actually 愛玩少女 (Lover Doll) by Prontonsaurus (プロトンザウルス), which was only one of the many stories animated in Cool Devices. They simply titled it 'Cool Devices' because of the name recognition, I suppose.

Nope; I actually own three of the issues - bought solely as a sort of show of support for Ironcat/Steve - and there are more stories than just Lover Doll, although it's also been way too long since I've seen the Cool Devices anime to remember if everything that's in the one is in the other, and vice versa.

Oh, I didn't mean Lover Doll is the only story in 愛玩少女 , just that that story is the one from the book that was animated, and that the manga Studio Ironcat published is simply 愛玩少女 with the 'Cool Devices' title tagged onto it. The only connection between the two being that one story.

...or so I'm assuming. Are all the stories in the trade paperback by Prontonsaurus? Is yes, then it's most definitely 愛玩少女.
Prontosaurus only has two tankoubons, as far as I can tell, and the other one dates back to 1990. If not, then, my mistake. =)

Cool Devices the animated series is based on a bunch of manga by a number of artists. I just want to clarify for others that they won't find every episode of Cool Devices in manga form, in just one book.
