I've been on dates like that.

Yes but the advantage here is when it's done it really is done. No worrying about lingering phone calls or your pals giving you grief over your choice. Plus no having to change your phone number or hidden "surprises."

Okay, it's been a little over two days since someone last voted. So, should we tally up the votes now and see what won, or should we wait a couple more days?

Final Results:
Bad-Ass: 17
Supporting: 24
all others combined: 7
So the next theme will be Best Supporting Character.
And, incidentally, BSC would have won even with the negative votes figured out, albeit much more narrowly.
Sometime in the next day or two (most likely Friday evening EST, as I doubt I'll have time to set it up today) I will start a new thread for purposes of determining participants. Since we're talking about such a massive field of potential candidates, we'll go with 128 again this time, but this may be the last time we do that. Please do make sure you carefully read the guidelines for participating because I will be putting more qualifiers on the candidates than normal to keep the nominations phase from getting out of hand.
Even so, I am not looking forward to this part. It's going to be a bigger headache than normal weeding out the unworthy offerings.

Surprise surprise. Didn't see that outcome coming at all. Will be interesting to see what new idea beats out BA next time as well. *sigh*

Thank you. I also hope you put in some more strict guidelines on voting in terms of how we base our votes. I mean with it being best supporting character I wonder if we're going to get a plethora of honestly mindless reasoning behind votes. Stuff like they always brought the main character tea, or this character should win because they simply make a "good match" with lead character. Hopefully your guidelines will be strict enough to cut out such voting and character nominations.

If by some string of magic luck and fortune Biggest Badass wins next time (thinking ahead here I know) I sure hope you won't short change people by doing this. That tournament would also EASILY bring up 128 WORTHY contenders and not just fluff. Obviously we'll deal with that bridge if and when we ever get to it but I do hope by simply taking that long to get to that tournament it doesn't get short changed due to it.

A point I have raised before is that you can't really tell people how to vote you can only hope they will be serious about it in their own way. I know how you feel about some people seeming to just randomly pick. But if you start giving people voting criteria then it isn't really a vote anymore it's more of a who matches this criteria best quiz. Everyone creates their own standards by which to judge characters that's why everyones vote is different. Additionaly sometimes you will find "they just seem a good match" to be kind of like a mental iceberg they know they love the characters and they are well matched but the way this is conveyed is too subtle probably something to do with how the va's work with each other or the character archetypes but becuase these people don't have media studies degrees it comes out as "They are well suited for each other" Just because someone can't explain his point 100% on demand does not mean he does not have one. Frankly governemts haven't figured out how to eliminate the silly voter quotient yet so I highly doubt wel manage it here on ANN without totally ruining the tournament. At least that's my opinion.
In short no strict voter guidelines please sorry psycho but I think it's a terrible idea.

Perhaps I should rephrase it then. Instead of "strict guidelines" let's call it "common frakking sense guidelines even Gilbert Grape can follow" guidelines. Such as the "i vote for them because they know the other's shoe size" type reasoning. While this is just a game many do put some real time and effort into their reasoning and picks. Such blatant idiotic reasonings to me are a kind of insult to those who put some effort into theirs. We've not had a big problem with this before mind you. I just wonder with this particular tournament, and honestly Biggest Badass too should we ever get to it, if it might be more suited to a rise in such answers. I don't expect paragraphs nor do I think that is reasonable but I won't deny the fact I've seen many a vote in the past that was pure dribble with no real reasoning at all. I just don't want posts such as those being allowed. Sort of like the rule here at ANN requiring real posts be posted with just the smallest measure of depth, and actual sentences, and not one liners devoid of any measure of intelligence.
And honestly while I doubt most people will agree with me on this I say we do away with ALL votes that are simply voting against someone or some group. The purpose is to have fun sure but also see who we think is the best "blank", and not simply who we don't like. If you're torn between votes and go with who you like best that's one thing. Its another to blatantly say "I don't like "X" so I'm voting against it hahahahaha." To me that takes away from the spirit of the tournament.

If I may be presumptuous and make a suggestion about Best Supporting Character criteria?
I would suggest that the nominated character should someone who has been in more than one episode. While this might be a big tricky for a 12-episode title, I think that it would help to cut down some potential nominees.
