*sniff*.. I hope it's not forever forever.. Her music is just too high quality to never make ever again. It keeps my mood in check most days.

D: I'll miss hearing new music from her a lot, but I hope she gets some nice self-discovery/growth/etc done on her break...even international pop stars need time to take a step back and think.

Maybe she needs to take some time off to rediscover her "sound" or something. I tend to like her earlier works over her more recent releases, but that's just me.
Then again, maybe she wants to get married again and start a family or any number of things. I just hope it's nothing health related.. IIRC, she had to take some time off before due to her health...
Anyways, Best of luck to her.

This is sad news. I was never REALLY big into Utada but I do jam out to a lot her songs on occasion. Mostly a lot of her older CDs. Mainly because that's when I really got into her stuff and didn't keep up with it. I love the piano and the HARMONY J-Pop Meets Classics renditions of her songs. They are fantastic. She was also my first introduction into j-music. My friend introduced me to Drama back in 2000/2001 or so.
I already want her to come back. 'Tada come back to me. You're one in a million (one in a million).

I am glad Hiki's taking the time to take care of herself. It would have been sad to see her health or life degrade due to her career. Hopefully she will come back refreshed and full of energy. I have to thank her for getting her American tour in before she decided to go on break. It was awesome to see her live in Chicago. I hope I get another chance to see her live again.
Gambatte kudasai, Hiki!

Well i would rather her take a break than just releasing half fast music for the sake of just releasing something. Her last English album was great! so I guess its good to leave on a high note.

Good thing I got to see her three times over the past two years, twice in concert! I got her autograph twice as well, once on stage at Sephora!

My thoughts exactly. I managed to catch her on tour earlier this year and she is just as awesome in person!

Given that she has been writing, singing, producing and arranging for so long, this is only natural. She needs to find her place and set herself on the right track. She will be sorely missed though. I hope she finds what she is looking for and regains the stability she needs.

I hope Disney talks her into doing KH 3 before she leave. I remember reading somewhere she didn't like how Disney made her do things (i'll see if I can find the article unless someone beats me to it)
I'm glad I got to see her in Feb. at the House of Blues Chicago. I liked her English cd! I hope she comes back soon.
