Vertical, while Viz is suffering from "shonen"-itis, and it's more unique series have the most erratic releasing schedules known to man, you are providing a beacon of hope to manga readers who demand more from their graphic entertainment.
Shine on, you crazy diamond, shine on.

Good to see more Usamaru Furuya manga. They'll be a preview Genkaku Picasso in the October issue of Shonen Jump.

Fallen Wings wrote: | Sneaking superstition it might be FURUYA Usamaru with Litchi Hikari Club. He fits the description and the Japanese edition has it stated that its version is 327 pages. Considering that Vertical said its mystery manga was 320 pages, hard format and a modern day classic - it fits the profile. Even Ed said in the past he loved it.
And Viz has also worked with this publisher (which you said on Twitter) |
Anyone remember when I wrote this back at the beginning of April?
Yeah I knew it was that one - after all Ed kept on praising it on the internet.
Well congrats on the license, though I read his "Plastic Girl", "Innocents Boys Crusade" and "Palepoli" and throughly found them boring and well ... not nice words.
So the chance of me picking this up is highly unlikely. Most artists don't change much.
Ah well. Perhaps I might buy it if I get it for a convention deal - 3 mangas for 10 dollars (AUD) always goes down well with me.
Anyway, if Vertical reads this, Congrats. And if Ed reads this, you lucky bugger.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!!!!
This news just made my day! I was for some time hoping some (French?) Editor would pick this up. I guess Ed Chavez heard my prayers.

Holy moly, I never even imagined this would get licensed!
Seeing all these announcements for Furuya makes me so happy, now I don't need to spend my time staring at my Japanese copies of his works...And seeing this one getting picked up by Vertical is even better- they've easily become the english publisher I look forward to buying from the most!

Thanks!! We appreciate the support. ...But I'd like to ask one thing to stroke my ego. How many karats are in this theoretical diamond I have become? Hmm.

100.
I watched some of Toward the Terra the other day, and I have added the manga to my buy list.

This news has, belatedly, made my day. Was a bit disappointed about the Furuya title that Viz picked but this... well, this is something else entirely!

This is good news, however I'd be more happier if Vertical released more of the Guin Saga arcs.

Not my first choice for Furuya, but a great pick-up nonetheless.
Is this the Project M that you were talking about, Ed?

What I've read of it has been significantly better than any of those other series you mention, but at best it's still a Maruo Seuhiro impersonation with less panache and visual flair.
