No, half the movie is a bunch of old Russian guys talking about stuff that happens in the anime like it was some kind of historical drama.

Hah, it was pretty crazy what the old guys were saying, how there were spoiler[people hooked up to machines to send them to some other world (the afterlife? I don't even remember).]

That said, the animation was pretty spiffy and if it's cheap I'll probably pick this up.

AWESOMENESS! Here's hoping Manga Ent announces a few other titles soon, and if not, well this is still superawesome.

That's because there's an issue with the protagonist. The viewer has to choose what the believe.

It's like if someone told you that the Brits brought in zombies to fight the War of Indepencence. Would you believe that?

Hoping for a BD too.

That sounds (and looks from the trailer on the website) pretty cool actually. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to rent it off of Netflix.

Aye this movie would have been so much better with out those interviews. It was like a bad History Channel Docudrama

So it's framed sort of like a historical documentary? That...actually sounds pretty cool as well.

Indeed, that sounds like a cool way to frame a story about super-powered Russians fighting the second world war.

Article needs a correction: Michael Arias was the director of Tekkonkinkreet.

The article's not saying Ashino directed Tekkonkinkreet. Its saying Studio 4°C animated it.

One thing that might be misleading is that the supernatural elements and special characters weren't actually fighting "along side" with the regular army during the second world war, although spoiler[their effects could be felt, but existence not perceived--think Bleach's Shinigami + Hollow interaction with the real world + Matrix Bullet time stoppage] Might seem weird but it actually makes more sense this way given their metaphysical explanations.

The antagonistic / dark supernatural element employed is also (very) loosely based on the historical invasion of the Teutonic Order of Knights in 1242, where Russia won in the Battle of the Ice Overall, there's not much action, but it's still a good movie.
