That reminds me: should finish getting Zeta on DVD. It's been almost five years since I saw the whole show subtitled on Animax. Translation was a bit clunky in spots but the original theme songs were in place.

YAY I get to finish Zeta Gundam too bad it in sub though instead of dub, but I can always view it dubbed latter when I can afford to buy it. I've always wanted to see the first Gundam and Gundam Wing now I will be able to.

Unfortunately Bandai didn't have music rights to the OP/ED outside of Asia. They're not on the DVD either.
However, we did make sure we got the subtitles that were used on the latest version of the DVD, which are apparently improved over the original subs.

The Zeta Gundam dub may be the worst English dub a Gundam anime has ever received, aside from the dub of the original MSG movies. Trust me, you're better off without it.
I'm glad that the streaming edition isn't the dubtitled one. And yes, I'm still sore at Bandai for that.

It's a shame we'll never see the BluRays for Zeta Gundam over here, they were fantastic.

Pretty amazing to see this. Zeta remains my favorite Gundam series. Still made at Bandai's handling of the subtitle and music rights thing though. That was not good customer service in any way shape or form.
I got a taste of the blu rays by watching the HD openings on youtube. Man I'd love to see those over here. Alas...

We don't even have Char's Counterattack or Gundam F91 on BluRay, so Z Gundam seems like a much unlikely occurrence. I wonder I would have liked ZZ if I saw it on BluRay.

Geez, is April long enough? A year's worth of (weekly) episodes in under three months...during school...
Well, at least I just need to see Zeta. SEED is a maybe. And I'll probably just watch the last few episodes of the original series...

It also looks like you couldn't get rights for the video to places like New Zealand. I know its not your fault - you take what you can get - but it does make me a little sad.
Will ANN be able to get wider rights in the future (so that more videos can be shown to more places), or is the nature of the licensing system against you?

Awesome to see such a great series like Z Gundam on here. It might get more people aware of this classic (I had a friend yesterday amazed how few caught her Emma costume despite the popularity of the character otherwise).
Also interesting to see SEED labeled a re-imagining officially.

We always ask for as wide of rights as we can (though ad sales outside North America is a challenge, we'd do it anyways if we could). But alas, 100 years of film licensing practices and 30 years of nebulous production contracts makes it a daunting proposition. The situation is changing, but it's a case-by-case thing for the foreseeable future.

If you are referring to the original Mobile Suit Gundam, just wait until February 20. That's when ANN starts streaming it. I don't know if people in Japan can watch it, that's something you'd have to ask Justin.
