I'm not sure how I feel about this...
I mean, I want to know how they're planning to fit that, at least, 25+ hour route into only an hour and a half and still do a good job of it, let alone make it understandable if you haven't played the game yet or either read the manga adaptation or seen the TV anime adaptation. Especially seeing as how an hour max read of Kara no Kyoukai chapter 7 gets a 2 hour movie by itself.
This could be good, but it also has a high probability of falling on its face...

I am loving that poster. As a very big fan of the series, I'm hopeful the movie can do justice to this alternate story as well.

Should let ufotable handle this. When's the last time DEEN's done a movie, if ever?

That's pretty much how I feel. I'm on one hand happy to see UBW get animated and that alone makes me happy as can be. But to hear how it's getting crammed into a single movie....especially when it has as much, or more, story then FSN (original) has well.....it just screams failure. It looks nice but I just don't see how it will work. Virtually every other anime I have ever seen where they condense that much material into a single movie has just failed. Rahxephon the movie. Blue Gender. Personally they should have made FSN a movie and made UBW a 26 episode series but that's just me. Or at least make it a multi part OVA for Gods sake and give it a bit more actual length to get material out there.

Depends on the aim of the movie. If it's just a one shot feature (i.e. more of a fan service offering that focuses on animating the slick fight scenes as opposed to retelling the story......you just can't do the latter in a couple hours) that caters to fans of both the game and anime, the producers might as well stick with the original team.
However, if the aim of the movie is to start from scratch and do a serious job of adapting UBW (which would require several movies), it might pay off to work with a more reputable studio.

Who knows maybe ufotable doesn't want to touch Fate Stay/Night.
The animation does look pretty gorgeous though. Looking at the website pic, it makes me wonder how Shiro chose Saber in the first place.
Now I wonder how long it's going to take for the DVDs just like how I'm waiting for Eden...

I wonder if there's any real chance of this getting licensed? I mean did the Fate/Stay Night anime series even sell that well for Geneon? I think it must have seeing as how Funimation chose it as only a handful of Geneon's titles to distribute. If it sold well then there's a slight chance but if not then its very unlikely

It's hard to say as it was one of their last titles. The DVDs certainly were scarce as a result. But that could be more a case of them not making enough than it really selling well.
My guess is that it sold well given that it's not only quite good but is an action series, and those tend to do better. But without any real figures, we can't really say. I expect that it sold well enough that someone will consider picking it up. Hopefully, Geneon's license doesn't somehow encompass the movie. If that were the case, then we'd have to wait a while and may never get it. But my guess is that the contract is restricted to the anime only and not Fate/Stay Night properties in general.
Funimation would be the most likely to pick it up, I would think. But while they do pick up some movies, they're not the type of studio that picks up the movies which are condensed versions of an anime. This movie is a different path from the game, so it's not quite the same thing, but I don't know how interested Funimation would be in it. We can hope though.

The website is not working for me either. I don't suppose there's an alternate source for this?
Edit: Well, 5th try's the charm as it finally worked. Looks pretty f-ing awesome if I do say so myself. Looking forward to it even more.

Can anyone explain to me what Unlimited Blade Works is? I know its a different route on the Visual Novel, but I haven't played it so I don't really know. I watched the anime series though and I really liked it. So basically if someone just give me some info on the differences to expect without really giving a spoiler. If its too hard, then forget it I guess.

You know when Saber and Shirou meet Archer and Rin after Saber's fight with Lancer in the Emiya household? And Saber slashed Archer pretty hard? In UBW, Shirou stops Saber from doing that. That starts the UBW route where the story is more about Archer and Rin rather than Saber and Shirou. It further expands on the theme of heroes and heroism. Archer has some harsh lessons in that regard for Shirou.

Short answer to that is it was an accident. Long answer involves catalysts, pre-story events, and implantation.
