Actually, I had it for about a month already, but I couldn't tell any of you guys about it because I didn't have internet. Oh well.
Anyway, I watched the whole thing and I enjoyed it. Sure it wasn't the mecha action fest that I knew it wouldn't be, but it was still good, nonetheless. Each episode was very interesting and very entertaining to watch, right from the very first episode. And just as other reviews said, it got really engrossing toward the end. It's an anime that's supposed to make you think, to force you to pay attention real closely so you'll know what's going on. But I'm not faulting the show for this, because the show rewards you with a very good and engrossing plot. Also, the realistic depiction of mecha machinery and a subplot that involves a conflict with a (fake) Middle Eastern country makes it seem so real, and so close to home. I imagine that all the bad press was from people who were expecting an all out mecha action fest. Of course, for me, I knew what to expect. And because of that, I now have another favorite series to enjoy over and over again. It just goes to show you that while mindless action and pretty explosions are fun to watch, a deep and engaging plot is just as fun to watch. Oh, FYI, I got the entire series for around $30. And no, it's not a bootleg, it's the real deal. If anyone is interested, I can dig up the site where I got it, that is, assuming they still have it on sale. If not, I can probably scout around the internet for similar sites that has it for around the same price, and I'll make sure that I'm not giving you any sites that sells bootlegs. Well, peace out, everybody! |

I bet you got it in RightStuf, didn't you?
And yes, Gasaraki can be really realistic especially since the setting does parallel with ours (to a certain extent). |

Oh, does RightStuf have it on sale right now? Actually, I got it from a third-party seller under amazon. And as for Gasaraki, given the first part of the series involves a war with a pseudo-Middle Eastern country, it is not the true plot point for the series. It is just the tip of the iceberg. But yeah, if RightStuf has Gasaraki on sale right now, and you don't have it, then by all means, get it. After all, it's not everyday you'll come across a deal like this. $30 for a legal, 8 DVD box set (and a good one at that) is just too good of a deal to pass up. I have a feeling this deal won't last long, I'm not sure, but I strongly suggest you get it ASAP if you don't have it. Does anybody still want the link to where I got it? |
