I'm working on getting the write-ups done for my nominations, don't worry. I'm a procrastinator sometimes (like Sana's mom) so if there's a date they need to be done by, that's probably the day I'll end up doing them all. None of my nominations are in group A so hopefully I can procrastinate a little longer.
Just to clarify I'm tasked with the following teams/shows:
The Tank Police from Dominion Tank Police (I'd rather focus on the original OAV version)
Shinsengumi from Peacemaker Kurogane
ES Force from Kiddy Grade
Oh I have a pretty nice collection of Rayearth pics, if someone is planning to search for any, no need I'll post some of them unless the nominator already has a few in mind.

Believe me, I can sympathize, but in this case they have to be processed by me before the round starts. If the pic is available, I can easily identify which characters are which in the pic, and little or no editing is needed then the Guide entry only takes a few minutes to put together and upload - but that's a big "if," so for Groups past A the deadline will be the Friday before the round is scheduled to go up. (That means Group B write-ups must be in by 9/11, Group C by 9/18, and Group D by 9/25. Earlier is much preferable.)
And speaking on the ID issue: for future Guide entries submitted with a pic, please ID who is who in the pic. I am making this a standard part of the "Members" listing wherever possible. (And yes, this is a new issue for this tournament since previously we've only ever had one or two characters depicted.)

While we're waiting for the tournament to start, let's try something a bit different - like a trivia challenge based on the entrants!
See how many of the following you know - bonus if you can figure them out only by scanning the contestant list. #8 should be the hardest of the lot; if someone else actually knows that one, I'll be very impressed. If you wish to post answers, please do so in spoiler tags for those who might wish to try on their own.
Which team or organization in the tournament. . .
1) is composed entirely of members named after desserts? (x2)
2) is composed (mostly) of members named after flowers?
3) is composed of members named after hotels?
4) has a member named after a musical instrument?
5) is based on a real-world team/organization? (At least two, possibly three.)
6) is the oldest in terms of first anime appearance?
7) is a parody of another team/organization in the tournament?
8) which is not one of the answers to #5 has appeared prominently in an anime series outside of its home franchise? (Tsubasa's cross-overs are counted all as one franchise for purposes of this question.)

ACROSS, Excel Saga.
E: Sorry, should've read Key's post more carefully.

Do you know how to use spoiler tags? I do.

Would that be the Mews Mews from Tokyo Mew Mew?

Surely BECK from Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad is based on countless bands that aspired to make it.

Um, Rose of Versailles?

If there are say three answers to #5, then the way #8 is worded must mean the other one hundred and twenty five Anime are all possible answers to that question. Hey, although the pool has been reduced by just three, every little bit counts.

Okay, apparently there are two of them, then, since that isn't the one I had in mind. Will edit the original post accordingky.

No, I mean directly - as in, had the exact same name historically-speaking.

That's not a group name, and it isn't the right series anyway. There are at least two which predate it.

You're totally ignoring the second part of it, which should reduce the field down to exactly one possibility with the Tsubasa exclusion figured in.

I think that I might actually know these two:
1) Galaxy Angels
2) The Imperial Floral Brigade - Sakura Taisen

5. Shinsengumi of Peace Maker Kurogane (a real life police squad in the late Tokugawa shogunate period of Japan) and British Library (while the ops division is fiction, it is a real organization which is the UK's national library.)
6. Cyborg Soldiers of Cyborg 009 (the title's earliest show and movies came out in the late-1960s which is a decade earlier than Rose of Versailles's Company B.)

Section 9 takes its unit number from the German Grenzschutzgruppe 9, on which it is also heavily modeled.

Should you choose to use the composite for Magic User's Club, the identifications are:
left, above: Ayanojyo Aburatsubo
left, below: Takeo Takakura
center: Sae Sawanoguchi
right, above: Nanaka Nakatomi
right, below: Akane Aikawa

Order of Magdalene from Chrno Crusade. Don't even need an explanation for this one, right?
Hotel Moscow, Black Lagoon. There's bound to be a hotel called that in Moscow.
Gonna try to figure out #8 later, doubt I'll get it though.
Edit: give up on finding #8, too many names rang a bell when I read the list but I didn't come to a conclusion in the end.

I think some clarifications are in order on the trivia questions.
People have correctly ID'd #1 (both), 2, 3, and 6 and one of the ones for #5 (Le Secret du Roi really did exist in the 18th century and serve in the same capacity historically that it did in Le Chevalier d'Eon). The second one for #5 has yet to be identified, however. It is a team or organization which has the exact same name, membership, and purpose in its source anime that it did historically.
#4 has yet to be guessed, and I'm a little surprised it hasn't. #7's guess wasn't correct; while some elements of NERV may appear and be parodied in MSN, the organization as a whole wasn't.
I'll reveal #8 Sunday night if no one figures it out by then. It is a toughie, as it involves a very obscure series. (But one that has been released on DVD in R1!)

Ok, I've decided to give it another shot at reading the list and since this name sounded familiar I'll give it my last shot.
Shitenno, Otogi Zoshi
Since I'm not too sure about your #8, I'll have to guess this must be #5 or #8.
