I do. Well, let me amend that: that's what I do now. Earlier in the year, I started watching some current series. Some of them have already wrapped up (Eden of the East, Kurokami the Animation, Hatsukoi Limited) while others are still ongoing (Time of Eve, Saki, Shangri-La and Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom).
Basically, I made the resolution to not watch a series until its done because if I'm really into a series I like the option of being able to watch it all at my own pace. Having to wait a week for a new episode kills me (yes, I failed Patience 101). This policy even extends to series that have more than one season. For example, I just recently found out that Asura Cryin' has a second season starting soon. I haven't seen the first season of it yet and I won't until the second season is done.
I know from series like Shikabane Hime that the end of the first season can end on a real dramatic spike, so I don't want to take the chance of being left hanging for an extended period.
The one drag about this policy is that I can't participate in the various threads devoted to the current series, which is kind of fun. Also, in cases like The Romance of the Three Kingdoms (which looks very cool) where there will be 52-episodes, I'll have a helluva long wait before I can check it out.
I'm looking forward to the end of October, because by that time a lot of the current series I want to see will have completed their runs.
Anyway, does anybody else share this habit or am I the only freak that thinks this way?

I'm probably the only person on this site who hasn't seen one episode of the new MoSH season, despite being a fan.
I want all the episodes ready to go, and yes, including the 8 people are bitching about.
I'm a marathon person and I despise this idiotic notion of releasing an episode per week. Do them all and be done with it!
Odd, huh, to whine about the weekly release but yet be patient enough to wait until they're all done.
Well, this goes to wanting to know what happens next, and waiting a damn week is worse than waiting several months for all the episodes. At least with my option, I'll immediately know.
Of course, this risks spoilers, but I'm okay with that. I'm not that obsessed with a show. Hell, often times spoilers makes me want to view a series. Right, Mr. Hell Girl?
There's way too many shows to watch to keep me busy until the new episodes all air. Consider these streaming episodes my new "backlog" of anime.

Sorry, you aren't as unique as you thought. I, too, had made the decision to wait until the new eppies were on DVD before watching (mainly because I wanted to see the dubbed version first). That was before I found out about this Endless Eight nonsense. Sadly, despite my burning desire to punish the parties responsible by boycotting the product, I'll probably cave.

I think that's perfectly reasonable, PJ. I too prefer to watch anime series whole. The only exceptions so far have been Macross Frontier, which I accidentally started before it was finished so I had to wait for the final five eps. or so, and this season's Aoi Hana, where impatience made me go against better judgment.
Of course, I don't watch my anime streaming, but that's a different topic.

No, it's far more fun to have something to look forward to each week. Also, waiting until it's done can often cause a backlog of series to be generated if you forget about it, and it's best not to get behind.

I understand the anticipation factor, for sure. It's particularly cool when you sort of forget about it and then realize that a new eppie is probably waiting for you. It's just that for me, the pain of impatience is stronger than the pleasure of anticipation.

I don't wait, I actualy enjoy having to wait a week, I think it feels like I can get more excitement out of a cliffhanger, and I can analyse what I just saw. It is kind of fun to have just watch an episode and then go looking up reviews or posts about what others thought of the episode and notice some things I may have missed. I dont like just blowing through an anime, and waiting a week between each one is part of the experience. Such as when I watched Clannad: After Stories, I got quite emotional between the weeks of some of the episodes, an experience that I wouldnt have had with marathon hit.
A week isn't that far apart, and part of some anime is suposed to be about what will happen next. Also alows me to watch a few different series at once for a bit of variety like Saki, Pandora Hearts, Hayate no Gotoku! and Shangri-la.

I used to until I read the reviews posted from ANN about the spring season. Curious about some of the shows I then started watching them weekly, such as Phantom, Shangri-la and even K-ON
I seem to have picked up the habit of checking each seasons anime selection these days. I'm still a newcomer to the anime scene so maybe this is just a natural progression.
However I like weekly releases as it gives my mind something to stew over when I'm at work, at the minute Umineko no naku koro ni is my main agenda being a big Higurashi fan. Although I do get impatient like you stated towards the longer releases such as OVAs e.g. Hellsing Ultimate.

Damn...you guys are starting to pull me over to the dark side...NO, I MUST BE STRONG!!!
It's funny how when I was younger and had no choice, I didn't have a problem waiting a week for a new episode of a show I liked to appear on TV. But with the advent of series on DVD, I guess something switched over in me and I've gotten used to being able to watch at my own speed.

And therein lies my reasoning. I now have a choice, despite me waiting a bit longer for the entire compilation.
Back then, when a series aired, one was damn lucky to catch reruns and hoped they were in order.
Now, thanks to the internet distribution system, this is never a problem again.
Now, if only we can get rid of this weekly airing bullcrap, I'd be set!

That might be good, but without support from TV, anime would be much more expensive for us customers.

watching a whole series in a mere span of 2 days is not as worthwhile as it is to watch it over couple of months. An anime series should be fun and enjoyable and it should have those cliffhangers.
But it is still up to preference. I too watch weekly, but some series i just wait until it completely finishes: one particularly im waiting for is FMA:Brotherhood. and Haruhi2Yea, it is up to the person... Right now i need anime to watch that doesnt bore me. <Thats what watching a series too quick feels like...

Since the second series of Clannad has yet to go on the shelves, I abstain from watching any of it at the time being. When the final half-season is released and reviewed, I'll consider venturing out into it, that is if I can tolerate the episode count of the two series combined.
As for actual streaming, I'm yet to start Time of Eve owing to a similar lack of completion. If each story is self-contained, I might give it a go, but otherwise I'd prefer not to be burdened with a cliffhanger that only patience can overcome. There's already plenty of things I can do nothing but wait for already, both related to the anime industry and otherwise.

I've seen the first five episodes of Time of Eve and even though they aren't of the cliffhanger nature, I'd still suggest you hold off. I believe the 6th and final episode of Time of Eve will be available on September 1st, so you don't have long to wait. I love the series a lot and I suspect you will be happier when you do start to watch knowing that all of the episodes are available to you.

It would try my patience more to hold off on watching until it was done, I think.
