Dragon Ash is my favorite Jrock group. They have a hip hop edge to their music and one of their songs was used as the ending theme for the movie Battle Royale.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Shonen Knife yet.

And I dunno if you'd count her or not, but I really like Yoko Ono. I know it's not fashionable, but...

I totally forgot about Maaya Sakamoto. Yeah, it'll either be her as my fave, or L'Arc~en~ciel.

Or maybe Aikawa Nanase, or Namie Amuro, or Do As Infinity, or T.M. Revolution, or maybe See-Saw... Anime dazed

Oh yeah! I wasn't really sure if anyone knew about them though. I only discovered them recently by chance on the iTunes Music Store, when serching random terms. They're pretty nice though. ^^;

Wow! I never thought that I would live so much for meeting another Move fan! It's a pity that I have just read that message, but I hope that DarkHunter will come some other day, xD...

Yeah, then I'm sure, my favourite J-Group is Move, and I really love their songs. They also made some songs for the Final Fantasy Unlimited OT, 'Romancing Train' for example. I love this song so much Anime smile.

And finally, I do also like some artists as Megumi Hayashibara (I can't believe that no one mentioned her), Ayumi Hamasaki, Maaya Sakamoto and Yoko Kanno.

Megumi Hayashibara

It's interesting how she's fallen out of the fandom scene so quickly. In one of Anime Jump's reviews from yesterday, Mike called Ayako Kawasumi "this generation's Megumi Hayashibara." Has it really been that long since she's been in the spotlight?

Well, she is only human. Maybe she wants to take a break. And since she has a child on the way, maybe it's her way of slowly disappearing from the anime/J-Pop scene.

But, in any case, she'll always be remembered by me no matter what. Smile

I only mentioned her, explaining that I like her songs (especially Northern Lights, SK Anime smile + sweatdrop). But I haven't reached so far as making her own "generation".

But I suppose you have only said this 'curiosity'. And yes, you're right, It's interesting watching and listening this 'fallen star', but I don't think she's gone for being a bad singer. Anyways, I should think that Move could make their own generation, but probably they must have more publicity all over the world. Hey! But don't get so confied, Megumi has arrived very far!!

Wee, resurrecting dead/dying threads is fun. Hmm, well, this should be an easy post to make. My favorite band ever (Jrock or not) is L'Arc~en~Ciel. :::pokes her avatar::: Besides them, my favorites include Gackt, Dir en Grey, Malice Mizer (mostly with Gackt, Klaha is tolerable, but I despise Tetsu's singing), hide (not X-Japan, though, just hide ^^), Fairy Fore, and more than I want to list.

As for Jpop, both Maaya Sakamoto and Masami Okui top my list, with Sakamoto edging Okui by a small margin.

In Jrock, I'm gonna have to go with B'z and then Do As Infinity, mostly because I think DAI is more pop than rock.

Honorable mentions go to Nanase Aikawa (for having former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman in her band), Arai Akino and Megumi Hayashibara (for getting me into Jpop) and Maria Yamamoto & Yuki Watanabe for performing the best Jpop song ever ("Kaze Hiita Yoru" from KareKano).

And yes, lists rock. Mr. Green

My favorite band has to be Charcoal Filter. It hasn't been mentioned yet so I thought that I could just pop in and say something. ^^

But for my sister...it would have to be SMAP. She's in a total SMAP fandom craze...not to mention my teacher... ;;
