Ah Il!
This will be an interesting series. Hopefully it will fare better then all the other VIdeo Game animes that came before it. I've actually been wanting to play this game and have heard good things about it. Its on my list for when I save up for a PS3. I think X-Play even give it a 4 out of 5 or 5 for 5 which is crazy cause its so anime styled and they really dislike that stuff. It's a crazy fun game, with a good story to boot. Looking forward to the anime version. Appears they've adapted the character designs to animation quite well, and it should be fun hearing the seiyu trying to say all the the non-Japanese names. Welkin's seiyu gave me a good chuckle when he attempted to say "Welkin Gunther." Hopefully the anime will be brought over to North America eventually. I'd like to see it dubbed by the game's English cast as well, were it to be licensed. |

The game was great and one of the only reasons to get a PSTriple aside from the Metal Gear Solid Movie. I have faith that A-1 will make a good adaptation because they handled Birdy and Kannagi fairly well, but there were some animation issues in Birdy season 2.

As much as I love the game's designs and plot I'll be honest and say I don't like the designs for the anime. But.... I won't let that stop me from giving it a shot. Things could be worse. So keeping my eyes on this.

This was the game that made me buy a PS3. Of course, the PS3 arrived in the mail broken and I'm awaiting a new one, so I haven't even played it yet, but that's beside the point.
That was a mind numbingly boring teaser though. Half the thing was just the map explaining the history. =\ I'm still totally looking forward to both actually getting to play the game and this. xD Does anyone know if the original seiyuu were used, by the way? That's not at all how I expected Alicia to sound, though of course I have no clue if it's the original or not. |

The game is a great SRPG, but I actually don't hope they follow that game's story exactly.
The game itself is worth it as a step forward for SRPGs (in my opinion it's what Fire Emblem on consoles should be), but the storyline was about as cliche as you could get for a JRPG or anime. That said, I did appreciate how Valkyria Chronicles gave every single soldier in your army a unique name, face, voice, and backstory. It made for a set of characters that was really diverse in kind of the same sense as Private Ryan. I hope the anime retains that. I actually haven't seen any anime based off of a game before though other than Gungrave. Anybody care to fill me in on how shows like Tales of Abyss (and Symphonia I think) turned out? ...oh, and I hope they keep Hitoshi Sakimoto's score. |

From the music of the trailer and the anime's pages here and on Wikipedia he's still doing the score for the show. I'm kinda hoping they re-orchestrate a number of the game's pieces (primarily battle themes) for the anime, but assuming they're still using a good chunk of the game's soundtrack I'll probably still be happy in these regards. I kinda remember Alicia's japanese voice sounding a little "peppier", though considering she only really appeared in the second half of the trailer it's hard to tell what she'll sound like in the series. Also, is it me or was the entire first half of the trailer ripped directly from the game (minus the game's female narration)? |

The animated Alicia looks kind of creepy compared to her pixilated counterpart. And did Welkin look that uncharacteristically bored and apathetic at the begining of the game? I hope these are not early signs of medicority of the animated version of my favorite PS3 game of 2008.
Aside from all that nitpicking, I'm glad to see that they used the game soundtrack, and I hope that they'll closely follow the game story. I'll keep a close eye on this. |

Kinda reminds me of the games we used to play like Risk, Diplomacy, and Axis and Allies.

the Anime looks good. Funny thing though I was expecting to hear a gunshot sound near the end of the promo after the clip showed Alicia with the rifle in hand.
But aw well. |
