My friend works at a bookstore so I went to visit him today. He was tell me how they just started getting manga in their store. (it's like a really small place) So my bro and I were looking through and I saw xxxholic and gundam seed. I was just wondering if both these titles are worth buying because I want to start getting into manga and I like clamp's animes. My friend's also giving me a discount like each manga for like $7. Are they both good or not?

That's a huge discount... As far as XXXholic, I'd say that if you like Clamp, you will probably enjoy this one as well. I'm sure you know how they like to present the darker side of things.

Yeah, it seems Del Ray has made its launch. Also look for, "Negima" and "Tsubasa" (also made by CLAMP) to hit the shelves. Further more, "XXXholic" crosses over with "Tsubasa" and vice versa.
If you like CLAMP’s work, then I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Even if you haven't really liked CLAMP in the pass, I'd say XXXholic is worth looking into. Yuuko is quite fanservicey at times, and well, it's just a crazy CLAMP story, which is lacking in whiney girly looking boy characters in little cute girls... unless you count those two creepy lesbian suggestive girl servants of Yuuko's...

I bought this, and I am very glad that I did. It is very funny, and the story is just all around...good. *needs a thesarus ><*
But I don't know how to pronounce the title Do you say "X-X-X-a-Holic" or is it "Sex-a-Holic", or "Triple X-a-Holic", is there even an "a" before "Holic"? Becuase I feel stupid saying it the first way like I have been for a few weeks

How do you pronounce xxxHolic anyway?
I say all 3 x's and then "holic," but I don't own the Japanese tanks and I doubt even those had a pronunciation guide (in kana, that is).

the katakana for the title is "XXXホリック" which keeps the "x"s... XXXhorituku... they don't give a pronounciation for the x... I just assume it's the same x like in their other manga title, X. So I pronounce it "ex ex ex holic". I have no idea if CLAMP has given a guide to its pronounciation yet.

And here I thought I was the only one who was confused on how to pronounce it.
It makes me wonder how many ways people will keep saying it.

the small 'tsu' (or 'tu' depending on the romanization style) is a glottal stop.
as such, it's 'XXXhorikku', not 'horituku'.

Ah, thank you. My self-teaching skills can only go so far right now.

hm, this is so weird ^^; i never thought about how you would pronounce this title at all. But since I'm lazy, I just remove all the other extra x's and just think of it as "xholic" ^^;

Hoe, I just read on a thread at animeondvd that the publishers got official word that xxxHOLIC is pronounced... simply as "Holic."
