Okay, hopefully this won't end up locked. But basically, I want to start a discussion of the Vampire Knight manga . I know it's been talked about in other threads but mainly concerning how good or how bad a manga it is, and occasionally it gets mentioned in the Shojo Beat thread. This will be for the fans of Vampire Knight to discuss the manga. I've searched the net for forums but it's hard to find one that doesn't constantly dissolve into obsessive fangirling. You know, the diehard Yuuki/Kaname or Yuuki/Zero fans who shout at each other in caps KANAME/ ZERO MUST DIE! IS GOING TO DIE! A friend of a friend of a friend of the mangaka said so!

Of course this thread may not last long because one of the rumors is that the manga is about to come to an end. But anyway, I hope to have a civil discussion of Vampire Knight. So who's with me?

I think first you have to clarify whether the thread would follow the latest Shojo Beat chapter or the latest English manga release. There's a big difference between the two as far as who might be spoiled, and if you're following Shojo Beat you need to warn manga readers avoiding spoilers not to open the thread in the subject heading.

I'm following the English manga release (last up, volume 5), so if by chance that's what you mean, I'd be in should I have anything to add to the discussion Smile

Well it goes without saying we should be careful about spoilers. I don't know if we should have separate threads or not. As for myself, I keep up with the latest chapters from scanalations. Of course, I started with Shojo Beat and buy the latest legally released volumes. I just loved Vampire Knight so much, I had to know what was happening! So I guess we should just start and go from there.

Well, it looks like I'm going to have to get the ball rolling on this discussion. I've really enjoyed Vampire Knight but right now, I fear for the fate of my favorite character Zero. Even though, I'm pretty certain he's the "vampire knight" of the title. It can't be Kaname, he's a prince and Yuuki's the princess. It seems that he's being set up to be some sort of sacrifical lamb by Kaname. Even though Kaname claims to want peace with humans, the only one he seems to really care about is Yuuki. I know some people like him but Kaname just seems arrogant and selfish to me. And if Zero dies, it will be nothing short of heartless, especially considering how much he has suffered. (For those of you who haven't read as far as I have, you don't yet know the half of it.)

I prefer Kaname to Zero because his manipulation makes the story moves on. Zero’s story is tragic but for some reasons it has never had any impact on me. It’s probably like that because I have never liked him to begin with he has been a walking pile of angst and nothing changed. I don’t hate him but I don’t like him either. Whether or not he will die I don’t care either way. But then I’m indifferent as to whether or not Kaname will die. Zero could have been a much better character if he has not been angsty 24 hours per day it’s not even funny at this point.

To be honest, I don’t like anyone from Vampire Knight for his/her personality traits. I read it because it is full of good-looking guys and the pace is fast enough not to bore me. I’m only remotely interested in what will happen. I want to know how the story will turn out but I can’t say I’m dying to know.

Okay, I wasn't sure whether to respond or not. I don't to be the only one keeping this thread afloat. But so far, most of the posts are mine. C'mon folks, isn't there anyone out there besides me who wants to discuss Vampire Knight?

To the previous poster: well, I like Vampire Knight for the story and I like angsty characters. Zero is depressed because not only is his life messed up, but he's been facing an eventual death sentence due to his increasing bloodlust. He does his best to protect Yuuki and he really loves her, even though she's in love with his enemy, Kaname. (Another reason to be depressed.) Anyway, I almost passed on VK because I didn't think it would have enough drama; I thought it would be another silly school girl romance that happened to involve vampires. But then I was introduced to Zero and I was hooked! Very Happy Plus, Zero is the "vampire knight" of the title. spoiler[In the recent anime episode, Kaname himself said so.]

Ummm....alright I'm going to guess it's alright to talk about Vampire Knight in general over here so I'll start with this. I like how Yuuki's staff(Artemis) turned into a scythe. It looks badass. Oh and I prefer Zero too. I never did like Kaname. He was all manipulative and such. Oh and I was surprised with the Vampire Knight title being connected to the story. Not that I thought it had no meaning, just that I was like "Oh, so he's the vampire knight."
