The original DiGi Charat licensed. In a word, "WAI!"

Crap....there goes another one I had planned to license...once I had started the company.
Does anyone know how companies license anime is it an upfront perchase? or a percentage of sales or what else? Thanks |

Could be a multiplitude of things, bt you're going to find a massive lack of people in the industry who will tell you. It's hard enough as it is, they don't need to go and make more competition. Either way, if you're unknown, be prepared to pay LOTS AND LOTS of money. |

I was really starting to wonder... Man, I'm glad this got picked up.
I was worried that Di Gi Charat was going to get popular because of the manga, then someone would go license the newest property, Di Gi Charat Nyo. >_< I can't believe how much they changed (aka "ruined") the amount and type of funny in the show. Bah, my own opinion. Now I can finally get rid of my 5th gen Dejiko fansub from 5 years ago and trade it for a bright shiny DVD! ^_______^ |

If I had the chance, I'd get Scrapped Princess. Then Di Gi Charat. Then Mamotte Shugogetten. In that order. ^_^ Maybe all of us should band together and form a huge fan based company where every fan in the world donates some money and it pays for licenses, DVD replicating, shipping, etc. Then everyone gets DVDs for cheap, and legit to boot. Ah the joys of dreaming a dream... |

AnimeSensei, In a perfect world... right?
On a different note, there is a pre-convention press release from ADV, which has been posted here: AnimeOnDVD So now it also appears that Princess Tutu is also been picked up. Of course, with many industry panels to be run this weekend, I can imagine we shall be hearing about all sorts of licenses. |
