Ok.
According to the ADV press release from earlier this year Kurau (and Red Garden) were meant to be released in a box set (they got to 4 of the singles before announcing this) by the 28th of August or something...well...I can't find those releases on Play UK or Amazon UK and the other major sites I have checked don't carry it either. Oddly some sites say that they have DVD singles of Kurau 6 available/on the way/etc while no mention of Kurau 5 at all. Anyone know what on earth of going on? Am I best served by just getting a fansub of the series...I've not finished it yet as the DVD's haven't come out. Also, I shouldn't have to buy an f'ing R1 release as they said they would do an R2 UK one... Did Funi get this from ADV during their re-licensing spree? |

That I did not know. My hopes are up.
...and right back down they go. Looks like this'll be another anime to put on the 'expensive singles/import or nothing' list. God save the Queen. |

I think I remember hearing that those boxed sets had been cancelled. Don't remember when or where, though. Kurau was not in the batch of titles that Funimation got from ADV; it was licensed back in 2004 before the Sojitz deal started up, but had a long delay before it was actually released.

On a side note, does anyone know who the current UK distributor for ADV is?
I know they closed up shop themselves and hired someone else to do it for them...but the old articles don't say who it is. Anyone know? What's their website, etc? Thanks. |

IIRC they announced the box set thing before ADV in the US announced losing all the Sojitz titles. I think there was some mention at the London Expo about still working on some titles.
ADVs distributor in the UK is Lace (LDMS). Their website: http://www.lacedigitalmediasales.com/ The old article that says who it is: animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2008-02-08/ldms-partner-with-adv-films --edit-- here we go:
