I am beating a dead horse here, but I wish they would put English subs on these DVD's so people could export them. Even if it was Engrish it would be OK with me, I want DVD/BlueRay quality Macross!

are you sure people are going to import them? Those Japanese DVDs are like $50 each.

I hell would. Being the #1 anime and surpassing that of Geass....I currently rank Macross Frontier as close to Evangelion, if not equal or above it. It's just THAT good.
Macross Frontier's story may have sucked compared to the rest of the Macross series, but animation was awesome (HQ clearly better), and I don't mind more Sheryl and Ranka in HQ :3
Oh and if no one has yet heard...3rd Macross Frontier OST coming this December and it's ALL vocal tracks from previous OSTs with new ones that were in the series but not on the first 2 OSTs. Can't wait to see this top Oricon charts again.

If they had English subs? I would in a heartbeat.

It just seems like it would be easier on the anime companies if they did not have to license the product in the US or other countries and just did it themselves and shipped the DVD/BR around the world themselves.
I think this would be the best, but what do I know.

Anime companies are not that big - they're not Hollywood. They don't have many good business connections outside of East Asia.

So tell me again, why more anime series aren't being released on BD here? I mean not that its a huge deal because (I personally) think that a lot of anime looks excellent in widescreen ED. (I mean look at DBZ releases they're all 1080p and look fantastic on DVD. (The seasons, though I've been getting the specials on BD)
I really wish more series would release on BD here in North America.
At this rate though I don't feel like waiting, and most stuff is in excellent quality on DVD anyway.
The issue comes up when they re-release stuff on BD. . . will I rebuy it? As a general rule. . . no. (Although I'll probably re-buy some of my absolute favorites (if they get BD releases) (IE - Full Metal Panic!, Blood "The Last Vampire", maybe a couple other OVAs?)
Anyway, I wish they would just hurry up and make the switch and just start releasing stuff on BD. (in North America)

IIRC, in Japan, BD sales account for around 15%-20% of all video sales, but in N. America, BD sales only account for around 5%. There's still not a good market to release a lot of BD stuff.

Personally, having only seen the movie DYRL, and comparing that with Macross Frontier, I really liked Frontier a lot better. The whole idea from that movie just seemed really cheesy and unrealistic. I know most fans understand that and in fact, the ideal belief that culture can stop a war, or at least turn the tide in one, is one of the major draws of the movie, as well as the amazing animation and design of the quality of the movie at that time made it one of the most beloved shows, but I still have to give, in terms of having a tight, well written story and fairly good background, to Frontier. The characters weren't too good ( I'm still mixed about Alto ), but the story overall was very good, and I think this is one of the best examples of a series using CG to full effect.
The Itano Circus, though, is probably a lot easier to execute in CG than in cell based animation: Random path via pseudorandom number generator and spline interpolation.
Anyway, I hear Blue Ray is dying anyway, so it seems as if HD war was a total annihilation war, both sides end up dying, so the whole idea of putting anime on Blue Ray might be moot.
