You should also mention DQ IV-VI getting a U.S. release, given the Toriyama connection.

Most people who are Dragon Quest fans probably know of the re-releases for the Nintendo Dual Screen.
None the less, I am buying this game when this game is availible.

"With" Toriyama designs? Toriyama was always the lead designer for CT. Anyway, I love the game, but I've played it literally dozens of times in the last 12 years. If it's just a straight port again I'm not biting.

Figures it would be a port. And folks on the game sites thought it would be a sequel. Square or should I say 'SqENIX' is not the same company it used to be when compared to days of the SNES to early PS1. Half of the stuff they created during that time barely gets a second glance anymore except by fans that actually LIKED those games and want to see comebacks on the larger consoles. They could have put that on the VC. Unless it's there already. But I guess they want to make a profit off the DS. Now the question is that will there be anything new to add to this port? New artwork? Gameplay? etc...
Not knocking it mind you. For those that don't own a Wii but have a DS will have much to look forward to. As for me I already own both versions that were released. I'm only looking forward to the updates of 'DQIV-VI'. As I've never played them aside from FF and this is the first time they're coming stateside. Not to mention they are the 3 most popular (of a trilogy) in the series.

Well, Chrono Trigger was a good game. Maybe not as great as some of its fans say, but it was solid on all fronts. (And it has Mitsuda's first soundtrack! That's always worth something.) If it is a straight port, I'll leave it alone, but if there's going to be a lot of stuff added, I might consider checking it out. Maybe we'll get a better translation, too.
Now what really needs to happen (but never will) is a PS3 remake of Xenogears. If S-E announced that, I would probably die of joy before even playing it.

Chrono Trigger is my favorite video game, and it's been ages since I last played it, since I never actually owned it (never owned a SNES or any Playstations). So I'm really looking forward to its release on the DS so I can challenge Gato again and earn 15 silver points.

Teriyaki: Yeah, but DQ still needs a push, since it took this long for it to be lucrative in the U.S.

What I'm hoping is that this will be a complete revamp, like what they did with FF 3 and what they are currently doing with FF 4, and what they just did with Star Ocean First Departure and Second Evolution on the PSP in Japan. Sadly, I've never owned this game. I wasn't into RPGs early enough to get this on SNES, and I didn't bother with the PS1 port because of evil load screens. So if they do this correctly, it'll be a return to cartidge goodness for this classic game, as well as touch screen features. I'm looking forward to it.

It's almost certainly not. It's basically going to be the Super Nintendo version with a few updates, more like the Final Fantasy GBA remakes. If they were making it 3D, I'm quite sure they would have said so in the press release. I saw some small blurry scans of the Japanese magazine article and the screenshots looked just like the SNES version.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm getting this game. I loved Chrono Trigger on the SNES. However, I won't be surprised if this game becomes hard to find this holiday season. Better get your pre-orders in, people.
