What, is this yaoi? Don't care, because it looks interesting, but still curious.

In my opinion, Vassalord flirts on the edges of Boys Love but doesn't actually cross the line into full-fledged BL. If I remember correctly... [relationship information spoiler] in spite of some taunting and teasing, the two characters' relationship remains steadfastly chaste.

I loved the preview. I'm picking this one up when it comes out.

From what I can remember, this is correct-- although I've only read (I think most of) v01 scanalated quite a while ago. I don't remember it crossing the yaoi line (unlike her Naruto doujinshi ). But I'm still interested, and I'll buy it (if only for that toe-sucking scene alone!).

It is advertised heavily in the yaoi zines I pick up every month so if it's not yaoi, it's heavy slash

Sounds interesting. I've been wanting a BL vampire story, I might have to check it out!

I just want to know why the one guy has that hand. I want to know if he's gonna do cool, you know, hand stuff.

I don't think I want to read further now that you guys are saying it's yaoi. I'm not into that stuff.

MageofFire, Vassalord was published in a shounen magazine so trust me, it never goes that far. If you've read Peacemaker, it's the same deal. Loads of subtext if your mind is inclined to jump that way, but it's easy to ignore otherwise.

I don't think it's going to be all about deep tongue kissing, MageofFire. I also know from watching a Yaoi anime in the past, it's not contagious.

We aren't saying yaoi.
I'm assuming it's like Saiyuki-lots of hot guys the fan fic writers can go to town on, but not necessarily anything in the actual story. THe artist may even do yaoi doujinshi on it, but everyone's saying there's no action, so IF anything develops, it'll likely be at the end.
However vampire lore is rife with sex & homosexuality with some lore even suggesting vamps are incapable of the human concept of sex while others treat vamps as hedonistic & highly sexed. The whole bite thing usually basically equates sex so depending on the preferred victims (such as gals often seen preying on gals), one can't avoid the potential for reading between the lines. DOn't forget Lugosi's Dracula was released for Valentine's day & billed as a romance.

I haven't read Peacemaker but I've heard of it. When it comes to yaoi (when I hear about it) I think the extreme case becasue that's what I was told it was guys on guys. I thought all yaoi was this and that's why I was chaning my mind when yaoi was mentioned in this thread.

I saw the Peacemaker anime and it was "eh." Not something that was mindless action, but it's not something that had me at the edge of my seat.

Whethere Vassalord is a yaoi-manga or not, it's still vampire-themed. It sounds cool to read.

Hmmm, even if it's not (hard) yaoi, judging by those preview pages linked in the original article I would suppose that people who dislike yaoi may not see the oh-so-subtle difference between Vassalord (whatever you want to label it) and yaoi-proper. Did that make sense? What I mean is, if someone is uncomfortable with yaoi, I'm not sure that they would appreciate seeing one man suck on another man's toes and bite him all over (again, pointing to those previews). But count me in; I'll be adding this to my next Amazon order.
Edit: Can I also say I'm very surprised this ran in a shounen magazine?
