(Im watching the movies online on youtube/video google) But i noticed that many peapole are reading Manga by books and stuff, is it the same for you out there? I preffer movies but if you can convince me that books are just as good, i would like to know more about it. Stories/tails i preffer atmost would be action and romance. Thanks for lending me your expensive time of yours |

Uhh, you mean "tales". "Manga tail" you can only get at conventions by dressing up as bishonen.
Although, I hear even that doesn't work too well... |

Remember,
10) Users may not request or link to bootlegs, fansubs, scanlations, active fan-translating groups, peer-to-peer networks, timed scripts, MP3s, unauthorized movie clips, or websites that house these groups or products. Links to and discussions about websites that provide authorized, legal downloads are permitted. So, legal sites to read manga online? Hm, I think Tokyopop have some at their website: http://tokyopop.com |

YouTube or GoogleVideo? Really? Can't you at least learn to get decent quality files via bit torrent sites? Kids these days. (Meanwhile, I'll wait for someone to yell at me about RM files on IRC or even VHS fansub tapes.)
Er.. um not that I encourage anime torrents. If you're in America, it should be pretty easy to order anime and manga legally. You could even have it shipped to you. I have to ask you something, and not just you but the numerous fans that I see expecting this. I'd ask everyone who downloads things illegally for nothing, especially en masse, this. What do you think it is that makes you so special that you should be handed everything for free? Why do you think anime and manga should cost you nothing? Wouldn't it be better to spend you time not watching free stuff and only watching shows you spend the effort to buy? Why are you living your life as a leech? (BitTorrent picked the right word there.) |

It sounds a lot like you're just trying to attack fansub watchers with your question here rather than genuinely inquire or even get them to think about it but maybe I'm wrong so if you're honestly curious about this I will offer what I believe to be the explanation. It's not that people feel they are entitled to free stuff. They rather do not feel they need some manner of entitlement. They don't think they should be given anime for free. They only think that they can get it for free. They then look at the potential costs versus the benefit of that action and decide to do it. |

So they don't think they should get anime for free. They just think they can get anime for free.
Okay, imagine somehow companies block all anime torrents so they cannot get it. I think then they will quickly argue that they should be able to get those torrents for nothing. How is 'can' and 'should' really not one and the same? I'm asking fansubbers to question their actions. If asking them to think about what they're doing and its consequences is an attack, then they must have weak defences. |

First of all dont call me a child, and second.
I would like to say, that for the once who wanna see the Animes for free could have a reason why they see the Animes for free... You got the choise btw Animes for free or you can choose to pay for it, now im pritty sure that you would make the choice for free since you can youse the money on alot other stuff that you are might gonna need. And as for the third think, the more you watch Animes, Mangas or even Amarican movies, the more money it is gonna cost you. Now if you put yourself as eksample how much Animes do you watch a day, is it a pay per view witch means you must pay a special amount of money before you are alowed to watch the movie or is it pay per month? I am not trying to say that downloading un-leagle for the right or best think to do, but if you atleast think about it instead of being so rude to peapole who actaully are watching movies for free. And no i dont mind that video.google/youtube has a bad quallity if its an good Manga i will make sure to get it, leagle or unleagle. /sitting back watching TV |

Mioro, unless English is not your first language (or you are dyslexic), you seriously need to work on your spelling and grammar. We aren't completely anal-retentive here (*ahem* well, the other moderators aren't), but we do expect you to make an effort.
Looking at the spelling of your post (never mind what passes for "logic" in it) makes me cringe, honestly. - abunai |

Well, yeah, I just guessed they're just not native to English. At least you're trying. I can't really speak any other language even that well myself.
I'm just asking for anyone, not just you, who watches stuff on YouTube or even torrents to think about what you're doing. If anime is too expensive for you, if you can't afford whatever you watch, then why waste time on it? Are you simply unfamiliar with how anime has been sold for decades? There are some legal ways to check out series online. If you like it, you pick up the DVD or maybe wait for the box set. Plus there's the old code that if you enjoy a series and have watch the series on fansub, there's a moral obligation to buy the DVDs when they eventually come out. Nowadays, the time it takes a series to get licensed and out on DVD is shorted. Yet today's audience seems to lacking that moral code that they buy the DVD after seeing fansubs of a series they like. Even if they do buy some, they're still wasting their life watching more anime than they can afford. Why would you waste your life on something you wouldn't buy? I even have a roommate who frustrates me on this issue. I heard a strange intro song and asked what he was watching. He said it was a crappy dating sim show. I asked why he was watching if it was crappy. His reply was pretty much because he downloaded it. He does have a collection of DVDs and manga. Yet he also wastes time watch series he only marginally cares for. When everything is free, does anything retain any value? It really is like an addiction. You waste your time on something just because it's there. You start watching more and more just because it's popular in circles to watch many shows. You may not even care for the show much, it could be crap, but you watch the whole thing just because it's anime and it's there. You have become comfortably numb. "Hello. Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? " I confess I used to do this. Then I started to wonder why? I weened myself off my intake and eventually just relied on DVDs. Plus networking with friends to see what they have on DVDs. Hell, even there I'm consuming more than I watch. I have a couple series on DVD I have yet to watch. With mp3s it's even worse. I grew up with Napster. I even lived in an apartment across the street from where it was invented. Actually, I still don't own a legal copy of 'Comfortably Numb'. It's one of those cases where, yes, the music labels and the anime companies are charging too much. Even the artists aren't getting a fair share. They are wrong. Yet that doesn't make what we do as file sharing fans right. It's not that they're wrong so whatever we do against them is right. No, we can be very wrong too. Even fan subbers with the most moral of codes need to realize the pure amount of leeches who never put anything back into the system. That's another problem. With videos online and torrents, you don't contribute anything. Nothing goes back to the people making the stuff. Pretty soon, if not already, anime will stop being produced simply because people are not giving anything for watching them. Take a step outside yourself and look at the bigger picture. Look at the global economy. Look at the systems of systems and how the world works. Step outside your room with your computer running torrents and YouTube. There's a whole world out there and it doesn't run on leeching. |

You wanna bet? Judging from my experience on ANN and my knowledge in linguistics, I bet 95% that the thread opener is a native English speaker. |

If by "they" you mean idiots then yes. Unfortunately they tend to be very vocal on the subject. However, they are hardly the majority. For every idiot screaming about how anime should be free, there are likely numerous fansub watchers who are not.
OK, but if that is what you genuinely intend to do then you might want to tone it down a bit. I'm all for getting fansubbers to think about what they're doing and making an informed decision. However when you act so aggressive and call people names like "leech" you just come across as trying to attack people. Then all you do is start fights and destroy any chance of somebody actually listening to you.
This is one point I just have to outright disagree with. It makes no sense. How does being unable to pay for something make it a waste of time? |
