I recieved my copies of the last 2 volumes of Chavelier from rightstuf today... but much to my surprise/dismay, volume 5 doesn't have the slipcover over the DVD case like the others do. It's sealed and everything (a proper fold-over seal as opposed to a seamed heat seal, even), but no slipcover.
It's not in-stock at any local Best Buys, and there aren't really any other stores I can get to with a decent anime selection, so trying to exchange it in-person is out of the question. I'm sure TRSI would let me return it for a new copy, but there's no guarantee I'd get the slipcover the second time, and could just end up wasting postage.
Anybody have any advice, or might be willing to sell me their vol 5 slipcover? Am I just stuck buying it again? It's going to drive me insane to have 1 volume without it.

Have you tried contacting Rightstuf? Or better yet, shawnek here on ANN?

Thats odd actually. I've had something similar happen to me from RightStuf. When I bought all the volumes of Cowboy Bebob Remix only about half of em had slip covers. They were all sealed just like you describe.
Definitely contacting them would be the best first step to take. See if they can shed any light on it and find out what they might be willing to do about it.

I've had this happen with Full Metal Panic TSR volume 3. I too bought this volume several months after it's release instead of pre-ordering it like most of my DVDs. I suspect that the slipcovers might be exclusive to the first pressing for some of these companies. I know this is the case with R2 imports where slip cases are usually reserved for first pressing. At least CD Japan states if first pressing is available or not on the product order page.

Not just yet, since the package came on Saturday (no point in contacting CS when I know I won't get answered for 2 days.) I was hoping to find an alternate solution, since I'm pretty sure TRSI would need me to return the DVD I have now, meaning I get to spend even more money on this volume (return postage), which would be a lil' purpose defeating.

Much like Randall the exact same thing happened to me with FMP TSR, one of the volumes came without a slip cover but I never bothered trying to find one. I'd suggest contacting TRSI over the phone but even then they may not be able to get you one, that's the only thing I can think of other than rebuying it from somewhere where you know the slipcover is attached. I wonder if you couldn't find a dealer at a con that sells the covers individually, hmmm.

The only con I can get to is Sakura Con, which happened already this year- and I kinda doubt I'd be so lucky there. I've had a bad run on the Dealer's Room since they moved into Seattle (in fact, this year I came home with 2/3 of my spending money still in pocket. Good for my pocketbook, but it makes for boring shopping.)
