Kinda odd to center an interview around a (kinda bad) remaster he wasn't even involved with

Quote: | ANN: These are the first two games of the Infinity series. Would you like to see all of them remastered and put up?
Uchikoshi: There's one more game in the Infinity series, Remember 11, which is incomplete. If that were to be released in English, I think it would need to be reworked by me or the director, [Takumi] Nakazawa, as part of the team. |
Please! Someone at MAGES. let Uchikoshi & Nakazawa cook, and let them bring out the completed version of Remember11 that would involve other original staff to make it something extra special.
Some unexpected comments about the TV Drama he wished would happen, and I think his stance about the re-release is about what you would expect - MAGES. really missed a beat by not having him & Nakazawa involved with the re-release.
Would be facinating to see what they would do with a new story built around the ambitions Uchikoshi mentions here. After seeing what was done in AI: The Somnium Files, I would trust that team with getting the 3D good enough to not distract from the experience.

As someone who's a big fan of Remember11 specifically, was it really considered unfinished? Has there been any indication of what else was planned for that story?
Regardless, yes, I'd love to see that one totally refined from the ground up. It would be a great cap to the re-release of its two predecessors here.

Yes, Remember11 famously ran out of time during development and so they had to scrap plans for a third chapter. Though imo I think that imperfection improves the overall experience. Neatly tying a bow on the game's story wouldn't have the same impact as Satoru's revenge plot against you the player actually working, but I can't fault a creator wanting that chance to finish things

To be fair it makes sense. Even though he and none of the other original writers had any involvement with the swaths if changes made in the Xbox 360 re-release this remaster is based on, it is the perfect opportunity from a marketing standpoint to use the Spike Chunsoft connection with Uchikoshi to try and bolster attention and sales. Which after the Zero Escape situation, don't blame them or any publisher.

"First of all, I think the best version of a visual novel is AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES. If you're reading this article and haven't played the game, please do give it a try." - Nice shameless plug! Even better because the game is actually awesome.
I can see why that experience would turn you off pharmaceutical companies.

Him and Kodaka are my favorite game creators. AI: The Somnium Files, Danganronpa and Master Detective Archives are amazing. I can't wait to get the Never 7 / Ever 17 Double Pack and The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

I played ever17 when I was 11 and it changed my life forever. Played zero escape (preordered it with the original watch for it's first run!) when I was 15, was overjoyed to see it was the same writer, and it became my favorite VNs and one of my all time favorite games ever made. God bless this man, he really knows how to write intriguing characters, intense atmosphere, and a story that'll truly blow your mind.
If you're reading this please play the Zero Escape series, at least the first one!!! I got the trilogy on steam for $4 during January, just wait for a sale or get a steam key. You're truly missing out if you haven't played it. I highly recommend playing it on its original hardware, however! All I have to say is an original hardware DS aren't expensive at all, and all you need is an R4 card... that is all.
