I can relate. I have to deal with a lot of power outages during the winter, and they're kind of fun as long as you're prepared for them.

After that jellyfish sting (whichever offshoot of jellyfish that creature was), I thought she was going to lean down, pucker her mouth, and then yell for someone to pee on Teeru. Not in a hentai way mind you.

Is someone's stomach growling really that big of a deal in Japan/Okinawa? Like letting a loud, wet fart or something? Unless it was during a funeral, I really can't imagine being that embarrassed by a tummy growl.

I found the friend's reactions/reflections in the end segment pretty amusing. They were like a microcosm of my feelings during 95% of the anime rom/coms I've seen.

I like that while every episode is very charming and proudly shows off Okinawan culture they also mention the negative aspects of a subject. Episode 8 had two very clear examples of that. Swimming in a sea filled with such clear water and colorful fish is magical but when a portion of said fish are poisonous and aggressive it is a mixed bag. The same goes for the concept of a drive in and being able to enjoy so much while in a car. It is handy but it reminds me of Texas in that it also leads to less than healthy habits.

And yeah Edjwald, for a short moment I did wonder if a golden shower was given. The stomach growl thing is considered unladylike I suppose.

Episode 9 made me think about how an adaptation based on a manga that is episodic in nature and with a repeating gimmick/premise can be real hit or miss. There are plenty of anime that feel overly long because a full length episode is often not ideal when you fit in several short segments that are repetitive. On the other hand you have shows like Okitsura that work because the segments are so varied. In one episode we had horror, sport, biology and some language lessons. The horror in particular was a fun surprise though learning about the Iriomote cat was interesting too.

There was even a cliffhanger of sorts.

I have a sense that way more episodic anime fail than succeed, but I can only think of the episodic anime that I liked because I discarded and forgot most of the others. I remember the one about a shut in ninja because it was fairly recent but I'd already have to look up the name. Something kunoichi something Otaku.

But I can immediately call up anime like Mushroom Pup and [/i] Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You[/i]. And if I really wanted to start digging up oldies, School Babysitters, and GJ Club, and Kawaii Complex Guide, and Magical Sempai to name a few.

Probably the choppiest, not well put together one that I still enjoyed was Seitokai Yakuindomo (Student Coucil Staff Members).

Y'know, I'm noticing that they were almost all comedies, or slice of life with a gently comedic touch.

Those who remember Azumanga Daioh know the Iriomote cat, the only cat who accepted Sakaki.

I was surprised that Yae sat down between Kana and Teeru, but I guess it was done to give her the opportunity to observe Kana's enthusiasm for the game, and to arrange to put that oblivious enthusiasm to work.

Episode 10 has something that I have never experienced before in an anime and that is an educational horror section. Even when the spoops were happening was information given about the different kinds of monsters appearing. There was even a bit of romantic progress, maybe? The bit about salt damage and the roads being slippery did not sound great to experience. It makes me wonder if those coral roads get extra slippery during rain. Not a lot of people using a bicycle there makes sense given the recent segment about cars.

Salt damage is a pretty big concern where I live during the winter months since it's usually used on our roads whenever snow is expected.
