Oh wow, the crossover must have been a hit amongst people that are fans of Naruto and manga overall. I sort of knew this crossover would be a hit compared to other past TMNT crossovers (ie: Batman, He-Man/Masters of the Universe). When you put a very popular manga character like Naruto in a crossover with TMNT, it was going to be a hit. That makes me wonder would DC and Marvel may try to do something similar with their IPs crossing over with anime/manga. Hell, maybe my idea of having Star Trek crossing over with Captain Harlock and a crossover with Space Battleship Yamato in a comic/graphic novel wouldn't sound that crazy after all. I wonder what other thing else could other western comic book companies can do with a crossover with anime/manga IP, like maybe have Naruto team up with Ninjak (I can also accept Ninjak making an appearance in a future Ninja Gaiden video game teaming up with Ryu Hayabusa)? Oh man, the possibility of that idea is endless and a huge one. |

@Mdo7: An Official crossover between Dragon Ball and Superman would light the internet abalze, lol. And I bet whoever would win between Supes and Goku would get one side into a tizzy.

I gotta say, it’s a crossover that works far better than it has any right to..
Eh I feel like it would go how the Spider-Man / Superman crossover went down. Villains team up; convince the other hero their foe is the REAL villain, they have one little fight; if they had moms they’d get scared, but then they realize it was a set up, fight the villains together and give each other a handshake before going their separate ways. |

Yeah, that's exactly how I want a Superman/Son Goku crossover comic or OEL manga to be like. They don't fight each other unless they want to pull a Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in a confused convoluted plot (which I highly doubt). But seeing the 2 of them working together would be mind-blowing. I also want to see a Sonic the Hedgehog/Dragonball crossover in a form of OEL manga rather then a comic/graphic novel. I want Ian Flynn (Sonic the Hedgehog's comic book writer) to team up with Toyotarou (who should be the co-writer handling the Dragonball characters side and the main illustrator/artist) for this OEL manga. Oh, and the reason I want this to be an OEL manga because I want this one to be release in both USA and Japan simultaneously. Given that manga is more accessible to both American and Japanese audiences and fans of both Sonic and Dragonball, and manga format may worked better for both characters. And the idea of Sonic and Dragonball crossover make sense because of DB particularly DBZ's influence on Sonic the Hedgehog like Super Sonic is based on Super Saiyan, and Sonic the Hedgehog is modeled from Goku, Shadow is based on Vegeta, Knuckles is based on Piccolo, and Silver is based on Future Trunks. 7 Chaos Emeralds in Sonic is based on the Dragon Balls. Oh and Sonic made a cameo in Dr. Slump (yes, it officially happened, and now people are screaming for them to make an official crossover, and I agree with this). I mean I'm shocked and surprised that Shueisha and SEGA didn't thought about having both of them crossover until well now. Given that Sonic owes a lot to Dragonball, it would make sense for both of them to be given an official crossover. I mean Sonic the Hedgehog has already crossed over with Mega-Man (yes, it's real), why not do it with Dragonball? I mean the Naruto X TMNT crossover has shown that to be possible. Why not pass up the opportunity to have Sonic, Shadow, Knuckle, and Shadows to team up with their Dragonball counterpart. IDW beside having the license to do TMNT comic, they also have the license to Sonic the Hedgehog too. So that means IDW along with Viz Media could talked to SEGA, & Shueisha to authorize the crossover if the Naruto X TMNT crossover comic does so well. So doing a Sonic the Hedgehog X Dragonball crossover OEL manga would be a big dream for Sonic fans in the US. As I said, because Naruto X TMNT crossover is now becoming a hit, I have a feeling that more western comic companies wanting their IP to crossover with Japanese anime/manga characters to make their product sell in the US because it featured a famous well-known anime/manga characters and also to make that western IP sell in Japan. So basically it's a win-win for both US comic and Japanese manga for both countries (Japan, and USA). |
