I mentioned this in the review thread, but I love the Tiger Mask/Orphanage reference:

They're having a lot of fun with anime history in this series. I'm looking forward to what they do next. Instead of "monster of the week" we get "reference of the week". It will be fun to see how far-ranging they go with the references.

This episode tugged out lots of interesting threads. I'm looking forward to how those develop.
