I could go on my usual spiel about how this is a stock factory issue isekai with lots of reused elements, average animation etc etc, but just saying that is enough to get the picture. I will give the show a few episodes because it seems to be a relatively amusing/chill adventure about a guy using his shopping skill to buy things and make loads of bank. The women also seem to be pretty easy for the mc btw.
I do hope that the show will calm down a bit pacing wise, the first half of the episode had me checking if I had accidentally sped up the videoplayer and the intro in particular was crazy fast. On the other hand, maybe it is best to just skip the starting bit as fast as possible. |

I liked the the fast forward montage to the soundtrack of Space Odyssey. I thought it was a pretty tongue in cheek way of acknowledging that we've all seen these elements before while taking advantage of them at the same time.
I also liked this anime a little better than you did, not that I'm proclaiming it a cinematic (animaniac?) masterpiece. But of all the non-Zenshuu isekai I've seen in the last 7 days, this one and Possibly the Greatest Alchemist are probably my favorites, mostly because I'm more in the mood for a relatively chillaxed iskeai this season. Wow...and the MC got some?!? I'm a little curious about this Shangri-La website. It is supposed to be like a Walmart or Amazon, or is the name suggesting it would be like our equivalent of a Paradise Shopping Network website? |

Episode 1
Looks like the gang's all here... The "Isekai? Sure, Why Not???" Gang, I mean. I'm not trying them all, but I thought I'd take a peek at this one (and Headhunted) and both are kind of fun so far. I'm probably setting myself up for a pretty big mid-season purge, but in the meantime, guess I'll pay for Shangri-La Prime to get free shipping and access to more isekai videos... |

I think the show reminding me of Campfire Cooking in Another World is what is working against it for me. I like it too for being a chill time but I also keep thinking how much better Campfire did it all.

I thought the same thing: guy goes to another world and has online shopping capabilities, only Campfire Cooking is all about food (and some adventure), while this one seems to be a little more about business/economics, so far. Although looking at the OP animation at the end, this guy looks like he'll end up doing a lot more than just trying to sell stuff. There's also less source material for this series; only 3 light novels as opposed to Campfire Cooking's 15. I figure you can do a lot more with food, as there are all kinds of things you can cook and different ways to prep/present them. But money is just math, which isn't as appealing to the senses, unless this one goes a little bit of Reborn as a Vending Machine and tries to highlight the usefulness of little everyday items most people take for granted. I also find it a little ironic Ken'ichi is played by Junichi Suwabe, whose character in Gate was also a bit of a loafer, but just happened to be good at something else. In Gate, Youji was good at diplomacy, while in Online Shopper, Ken'ichi is good at merchanting. But in the end, both characters just wanna' chill in a fantasy world. |

It is that chillin that made me like the second episode a fair bit more than the premiere. This week the mc did a lot such a forming a contract/bond with a major company, enjoying food with the beastmen and starting ''the build a home in the wilds'' project. All of those things and in particular the clearing of the land was charming in that the mc was just having a fun time. It also showed off how varied the goods of Shangri-La are.
Given the girl and the bandits at the end some conflict does seem to be brewing but I am sticking around due to how laidback the mood/vibe is. |

The MC is a bit on the bland side, but on the other hand, he's already gotten more tail (this week literally) in two episodes than some of the edgelord and/or nerdlord iskekai protagonists have managed after two seasons.
I'm hoping the slow paced home building continues as well. But I am a little curious about why the opening piece has pictures of some kind of exo-skeleton when he can't even buy a jug of kerosene. It makes me wonder if his shopping privileges will upgrade. |

Episode 2
I guess the appeal of watching this is similar to playing Sims (not that I would know what playing Sims or something like it is) where you watch an entity start small and gradually accumulate more and better stuff. Like Edjwald, I'm impressed with the amount of tail this dude is racking up... can the merchant's daughter and her maid be far behind? The old chick he sells beside is probably safe. Anyway, I know I'm slummin' with this one but it can't be always be chateaus and champagne, amirite? I'll give it the 3-episode treatment and see after that. |

I've never played Sims, but I remember when that whole franchise started as SimCity and played the heck out of that on PC and SNES when I was a kid. As the name implies, you build a city from scratch, then watch it grow, which is kind of what happened here on a smaller scale. I'm figuring Ken'ichi will build a place to live and to operate out of, then eventually draw a lot of attention. But given how SoL the show has been, so far, I'm thinking the tension won't escalate as high as people trying to do bad things. |

This anime reminds me of the anime Saving 80000 Gold In Another World For My retirement.. I enjoyed the first episode but I didn't care much for the second, especially the part where he bought and operated the backhoe. His antics with it were way over the top.
Also, he seems to be building his house close to town so I'm surprised no one from town came out to investigate all of the strange noises from the equipment he was using. Anyway, so far this one seems worth watching. |

It took a while but he indeed got a visitor this week who was investigating the rumors of a weird guy living in the forest (long live bribes). Otherwise episode 3 had quite a bit happen in it. The cabin was build (mostly due to the beastfolk), a bobcat was saved (it also surprisingly left after healing) and the mc is having more female attention thrown his way.
Given the way the bandits keep appearing every episode and them getting a mission of some kind just as Primula is leaving smells of fishy business. It also seems like there is another otherworlder in the form of mr Mayo. I am still liking the show so I will keep watching it until the end but I have to be honest in that the animation quality is a tad wonky at times. |

I think one advantage of being a low key, mid range anime is that it's a little easier to maintain the quality level. In any case, I think this anime is doing so. It's a pretty nice show to watch while crashing.
I kind of like that the bobcat didn't turn out to be intelligent and shape change into a cute lap pet. And I like the twist that there's another mystery guest from planet earth in the picture. I've seen people who were summoned at the same time, and I've seen people on worlds where they found signs that people have been isekai'd in the past, but the only other example I can think of offhand is Konosuba, where Kazuma meets Mitsurugi, the guy who got the magic sword from Aqua in an earlier isekai sendoff. . Interesting that the show is presenting Mr. Mayo (I would have called him Pump Chump, but hey, Smurky was first) as a threat before we know anything about him/her. |

Episode 3
Gotta say I'm soops disappointed in our middle aged online shopper. Up until now, he was nailing anything that came his way and now suddenly he's all worried about the attentions of a chesty young thing? Hey man, cop an attitude and stick with it, ya simp. Setting that annoyance aside, I continue to vibe with this. Must be my materialistic streak enjoying watching a character get stuffs. *Must... stay... away... from... Home... Shopping... Network...* |

Well, episode 4 may have only had a 5.000 Yen budget to work with animation wise but the clash with the bandits was pretty exciting. Making use of Shangri-La turned it into a bloodbath. Kudos to the old man for his use of explosion of for mr knight and his deranged frenzy.
And yes Blood, I am sure that you have something to say about the magic nut and the naked appeal at the end there. |
