I made it to "Generic Bully but the nerd has power now and will show him. He'll show them ALL". There's a much funnier show here where he keeps getting new skills, but none of them are combat skills. (Veggiemaster, Perfectly Timed Morning Wakeup, 100% Success Rate Cunnilingus)

Frankly, I think 63% Success Rate Cunnilingus is good enough. Hmm? Why yes, I am a man, why do you ask?

Is that an official translation calling it nutmaster instead of fruitmaster? As for the premise, might as well of called it: Mocked and Ridiculed but I am all powerful and get the girls.

I think the word used is "kinomi" which is literally something like "body from tree," so I wouldn't be surprised if it could be used for both fruit and nut. But the word definitely includes nuts.

Edit: looked a bit more. The word covers fruits, berries, and nuts.

Ah well, a lot of people very much like to see a badly treated mc do well after discovering that his seemingly useless ability is actually op as hell. Thus we get plenty of those, though I do hope that the nutmaster will be at least solid.

Btw, if you are looking for something with a non combat garden skill try I Grew The Greatest Home Garden With My Op Cultivation Skill?.

I seem to remember seeing a couple places calling this show Hazure Skill <<Nut>> before Crunchyroll wisely changed it.

I have to agree that it'd be a funnier show if the guy inherited tons of semi-useful skills. But hey, since this guy can grow his own skill fruits and has his own personal skill appraiser sidekick, it's obvious the show's setting him up to start his own personal fruit stand. He could still wind up with some talents like Martini mixing, Cat taming, Spot removal...

Anyway, it would be hard to argue that this isn't a paint by numbers anime looking for a safe base hit instead of swinging for the stands. Lots of familiar plot points (bullied weaklings becoming OP, adventure guilds, etc) and character tropes (adoring childhood friend, faithful loli sidekick), and the animation is 100% factory standard.

So naturally I'm in for at least 3 episodes Smile. At least the show doesn't take itself too seriously.

I shan't be taking this one for a spin. Probably because I'm too intelligent, sophisticated and all around just wonderful. But hey, you guys enjoy it, mmmkay? (...hee hee hee... New Year has just started and already I've got the ole Obnoxious Meter set to 11...)

Yeah, I realized that your tastes were way too refined when you somehow found the artistic value in that anime about an S-class monster becoming the cat pet of a big bosomed elf maiden. Kind of like the way the French swear Jerry Lewis is a comic genius even though I don't see it I guess . Razz

Though to be honest, this anime shows most of the signs of being one of those anime where the MC is overpowered and universally adored by a growing supporting cast by episode 3, and I'll probably yawn out if that's true. I'm still willing to wait and see if it crashes and burns though, maybe for the same reason people watch professional racing?.

To correct the ANN Encyclopedia entry, Light didn't get the Sword Saint skill but the Sword God skill, no way a guy would get a lesser skill than his love interest right...? Mad And it seems Lena spending a few months with Mr. Handsome Party Leader not only has forgotten "I want a skill that lets me be with you, Light-san" but detests his sort of peasant now(?). Some obnoxiousness but maybe it gets resolved, somehow? The Op makes it look like Light and Lena are married and have a kid, like Spy Family gone Fantasy Adventurers... And while there seems to be no purvey intent with said 10 year old girl being made to live full time with a teen guy "for reasons, don't ask" but I can't think of a good reason for this. Could be a fun show but it could turn dumb(er) so easily...

Eh, it is not at the bottom of my list first episode wise (Beheneko is) but it is only a single spot above it thus far. Lots of cliches, average animation and a story that most people here can easily predict. For example, it is probably mr too handsome that is some evil dude creeping on Lena since a male more talented/attractive than the mc is never allowed.

Well, the only unexpected thing Ep2 is how fast they introduced and dispensed with the dilemma of Lena from Ep1. Seems that was just a starter as the real baddie is obviously the Church and Mother Superior. Looks to becoming an enjoyable enough fluff show so far and the first fantasy anime where pizza is canonically a native dish and not introduced by people from another world...Or is it...?? Confused

So, it seems like it's turning into a pretty good season for me so far.

3 returning shows I like, and with only half the new shows out, I'm already enthusiastic about Zenshuu, Doctor Detective, Okitsura, Tasokare Hotel, Married to a Girl I Hate, and Flower and Asura.

I'm cautiously hopeful about Possibly the Greatest Alchemist and Momentary Lily and Escape the Princess Lessons and Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious though I also have some doubts.

And then there's this show, hovering right on the edge of the drop list. Nothing against it, just nothing particularly for it either. An all heart, no deep thoughts protagonist who becomes OP in a vaguely RPG style world through no effort on his own part. Generically animated, mostly predictable. The only thing I have any curiosity about it what will happen when the MC starts sampling from a cornucopia of skill fruits. It would be nice if he got some unusual skills, like making mud pies edible or ventriloquist fart projection or something, but I think it's probably going to be stuff like wind cutter, fire ball, enemy detection, boost, etc, .

And there was a nice moment when Lena took on a bunch of "garbage" tasks from the adventure guild with a smile instead of being humiliated, showing initiative and not just following Light adoringly. Though she did seem pretty passive when he was betting her freedom on a sword fight. I kept waiting for her to raise a hand and go, "Umm...excuse me?"

So, yeah, if there was anything on Tuesday besides Flower and Asura that I liked, I doubt I'd watch this until episode 3. Sometimes the value of anime real estate is determined by Location, Location, Location....

Y'know, the plotting of this episode wasn't bad. That castle in the fog could have been genuinely spooky and cool if the drawings of it had been remotely scary, or if the musical scored had stopped sounding generic and programmed for a moment. The idea of the missing adventurers they were searching for being undead wasn't earth shatteringly creative, but scenarios like this are classic for a reason. And Lena continues to show some real depth quite outside the normal draw-within-the-lines adoring ego sop that female leads often display in shows like this. She showed grit in killing the zombies where Light did not, but it wasn't because she's a bitch...it was out of compassion. I'm just saying, the show does all right by the character.

But with that said, I don't know that the show's predictable dialogue or the simplistic MC who's all "I can!" and no "I plan" are enough to survive the crappy lack of animated action or boring artistic direction.

The thing I find most interesting is this introduction of the Black Swan as the villain of the show. How on earth does a melodramatic movie about ballet starring Natalie Portman tie in with the evil doings in an anime fantasy world? Talk about meta....
