I've liked it a lot so far and I hope it manages to get more recognition in this stacked season. I've never fished either but I like seeing passoniate people so it works for me.
While I understand why people may think Hiro is an annoying coward, I think it's understandable given his circumstances and pretty realistic. Takaaki is the highlight of the series for me so far, I love reassuring presences like him and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his backstory down the line.

I've never been fishing, but always wanted to. This series seems like a home run for me- I absolutely love a comfy character drama with emotional stakes.

I'd recommend it. A good activity to think on stuff and self reflect on your life. . Very relaxing. And that's just if you're fishing by yourself. Social fishing is like playing video games with friends. And seconded on comfy character dramas!

I swear if he really dies after finally finding his place in life with this merry band, the dam in my eyes will break ( upcoming death type series have always been a guarantee in this regard). We have many good musics this season as always but this Opening theme is absurdly addictive to me. I can't believe that Ice is actually my top waifu in this series when Kozue exists.

It sounded like his tumor is treatable. The doctor said if he does nothing, he’s got two years. Which implies there’s hope if he takes action. The doctor wanted to discuss a treatment plan but Hiro walked out, shell shocked.

I’m really enjoying the show. I have to say I was shocked that Hiro had living parents. If an American college kid was diagnosed with cancer, he’d definitely tell his parents! Looking forward to learning more about that dynamic.

Yeah, I really hope this doesn't have a "bad end" - the vibes of this show are really great and seem to be very much pulling a "redemption arc" rather than something that bleak. But we'll see, it's certainly a really good watch so far.

I'm really loving the animation in this, and there's something really satisfying about the fact that at least some of the soundtrack is nylon-string guitar - like, you know, the nylon fishing line! It fits, somehow. I can't call this an exciting show, but so far it's doing good slice of life and is nicely paced.

Fujishiro is executed well as a gag, but overall ep 7 is the weakest so far. I guess, for someone with 0 fundamental interest in fishing, this was a fishing-first rather than drama-first episode that didn't offer so much.

Well, episode ten was intense, especially that last scene. Much as I've enjoyed all the more chill episodes we've had since the debt issue was resolved, it was about time for the show's serious side to reappear. Really looking forward to the continuation of this next week.

Really? The terminal illness storyline comes back now after six months in the story? Even after six months of Hiro moping around? Is Hiro even human or alive? Living things instinctively try to stay alive.

If he's going to give up, give up then. Apparently, he hasn't told anyone (not even his parents), sought additional care, or obtained a second opinion. This isn't the United States where medical care depends on how wealthy someone is. Instead he starts a hobby that I'm not convinced that he actually enjoys. -smh

I made it this far, so I'm going to speed run the remaining episodes.

(Yeah... I just wanted to vent.)

There is this thing called empathy. Look it up next time you want to act cold.

Happy the Shinichiro Miki surprise cameo got a call out! As soon as the "legendary angler" spoke, I got a stupid grin on my face and found it hard to pay attention to the subs, lol. Would be interesting to know if he was supposed to be someone specific.

I've enjoyed reading the weekly reviews for this series!

What's there to empathize with? Hiro isn't human.
